I need to get another 370Z...
So, to continue where I left off last October 31, 2010, the day when I traded my 2009 370Z/sport with 17k miles for a 2010 Toyota 4Runner:
OK, so my 4Runner has 11.4k miles, and I'm in the process of selling it RIGHT NOW as we speak for $2000 over what I bought it for, and I want another Z... so what have I missed? I'm probably gonna want a 2009 around 20k with sport and auto (this time)....please refresh my memory how to tell if an auto has sport pkg or not, other than by the wheels? If I remember correctly, the brake calipers say NISSAN on them? And the discs are bigger right? I really want a yellow, but would also love to find another Monterey Blue..... ...either a 370Z, or I'ma get me an Acura RL.... |
I'm look at this one, but I can't remember where I've seen this car from...is this familiar to you guys on the forum? I don't know why them wheels just reminds me of something...

love the color of course. imho hate the wheels.....
the AT can be had with the sports package... best 3000.00 you will spend for the package... |

I like the blue, too. Not sure about the wheels...
|
OP: besides the wheels, when you peel out, you lay down a double row of rubber. :rofl2: I don't know how the syncro rev features in the auto. The manual has a button to turn off feature right and above stick shift.
Good Luck. |

All autos have DRM and no SRM button just a blank near the gearshift lever.
The sport package also includes the front and rear spoiler - I don't think you can get the front air dam except in the package, so that can be a way to tell but some cars didn't get it installed when unloaded from shipping I believe. |
You can tell it has the sport package if it has front and rear spoiler, sport wheels, and the bigger brakes. Sport package brakes look like this:

Well technically everything that comes with the sports package can be added to a base model Z, for the 7AT (already comes with rev matching). If you add everything individually, the two won't be any different but it will be a lot more expensive to do. I plan on doing this myself. The only other thing that comes with the sports package is the VLSD.
|
Is it indicated in the VIN somehow?
|
I doubt it, but I don't see why it matters though. The only issue I see with buying a base model with all sport upgrades vs a factory sports package is any potential issues with installation of the various parts. I would think those would be easy to spot just by looking or test driving.

i love that blue Z

So you're going from trading one vehicle in for another vehicle, then trading that vehicle in for the same type of first vehicle you traded in for in the first place??? hmmmmm... you're SURE you're selling your 4Runner for 2k ABOVE what you paid? again hmmmmm... If this were true, I should get in the car-flipping business. lol.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt....if you really are making 2k, congrats. But I honestly think you're willing to take the hit on the loss of the 4runner because you really want to get back in a Z. Cars are never a good investment... |

If he really DID sell it for 2k over... great... more power to him. Maybe he can share his secrets on how this is possible. I'd like to sell my Civic for more than its worth too. |
Blue looks great! I wish they made a blue Nismo

With the situation in Japan after the tsunami, all Japanese manufacturers are hurting and dealerships are running on very low inventory..that's the reason why you don't see rebates and incentives on new cars like you see every year around this time, and that's why there's so much incentives on certified pre-owned vehicles...the Toyota 4Runner is imported into the US, and it's one of the vehicles that will be not coming to the US for several months (maybe beginning of next year), so supply and demand dictates that since we have only 1 brand new 4Runner on the lot and we're not getting anymore in, well if people want a certain one, they will have to purchase used (just like the Prius right now)... |
Blue sports are nice in auto and 6spd.

looks like there's going to be mass shortage on low-end j-cars which is a huge plus for me. :p more money i rake in later just for doing nothing. |

Eventually I ended up from a 350z, to 07 civic, to 08 Altima, back to 2009 370z. The lesson I learned is unless its a upgrade from a Z, I will be disappointed. |
I went to look at that blue Z I posted with the black wheels, they are XXR 522 19's...good thing they used OEM sized tires on the vehicle, so the odometer is pretty accurate...but I don't know about them wheels though...I really like the stock wheels...but otherwise, the car is very clean and very good condition, except for the front spoiler, which even I was going to replace mine if I had kept my first Z....

If you look up both features by definition, they perform the exact same job. DRM works when you upshift just like SRM. So nissans own description of Downshift rev-matching is inaccurate. Is it called SRM in automatic transmissions by name? NO Is it called DRM in manual transmissions by name? NO Is DRM and SRM the same exact feature and function exactly the same in either transmission? YES I hope this clears the SRM DRM dilemma. :ugh2: |
I don't agree.
SRM holds revs on upshifts to match intended gear, and increases revs on downshifts to match intended gear. DRM increases revs on downshift to match intended gear, but does nothing special on upshifts. On an automatic, I don't think upshifts take long off for a rev drop past the next gear, especially since there is no skip gear shifting. |
