Question for Auto Guys

Sorry MT pros just a question for AT guys...........

How many times a day would you say you use the paddle's
Or do you use the stick shift more.

I'm finding if the driving situation isn't just right,ie traffic, road conditions
etc. you don't use them as much as you would like to.

i try to use the paddles as much as i can but more and more i'm finding
i miss my 6MT which really does give you total control over you car...........

I never drove the car I'n auto but I only
Use the peddle shifters when I go through twisties and I use the shifter for everyday driving. ( I'm used to manual and I messed up ones I tried to throw the car I'n 2nd gear :0 hope I never do that again)

I use auto for regular driving/when right hand is busy
Tiptronic for when I'm having fun
Paddleshifters for launches/fun.
I'd say about.... 75% auto/15% tip/10% paddles

MT pros: is he allowed to call it a stick shift? :stirthepot:

used auto mode once. when aggressively driving i use paddles, when casual driving i use the shifter.

90% of the time, I use the shifter because it's comfortable to keep my hand there for normal driving. If Im doing a balls out straight ahead run and having both hands on the wheels, then I will use the paddles to shift. But most of the time I use the shifter.

I tried the paddles and shifter when I first got the car but have since used the automatic transmission virtually 100% of the time. If I want to do the shifting scene, I get in my Miata and drive off.
"Shifting" with the 370Z 7AT is just too unorthodox for me to be comfortable with. But to each his/her own...

I only use it for downshifting in city, and full manual modes whenever there is no traffic, also in highways. So much quicker. Full auto mode gets you to 7th gear at 50mph, not good at all.

I use paddles always (I have the $4 short shift :D ) when in M, I'm in M unless I have a passenger, then it's about 50/50 M/A, but I drive alone >90% of the time.

I'll answer that ( NO) wrong choice of words.

DrEvil 06-06-2011 08:02 AM

The more I drive the car , the more I use the stick. Find myself using it about 90% of the time
