I just got my Z. New, now with 170miles I can confirm the smell reported by the OP. I believe it's related to the engine being in the "break in"/newish

I have just over 8,000 miles and i still get this smell here and there. I would say its normal... Smells like dust burnoff or carbon or something. Not rubber or clutch id say...

should get dat checked. mine had slight burnt oil and exhaust gasket smell very early but went away by the 1k break-in.
my new STI had some exhaust fume smell early on but dat also went away after break in. come to think of it, my brand new GTI made no smell..besides its new car smell. |

I know on start-up after my tune as the car warms up it's a bit rich and you can smell gas fumes... yummy. after the RPM's drop in idle it's fine though. when I got my stillen exhaust put on I could smell the burning manufacturing oils/residues for a little while. |
