Why do you own a 2 seat sports car and drive the speed limit. That makes no sense to me. Get a Prius.

Most speedos are inaccurate -- and become wildly optimistic at higher speeds (for our own good). If you track speedo readings vs. a good GPS, you'll see the error pretty easily. (My Honda Accord is off by 3 mph at 70 mph. I'm confident my CBR600RR is off by more than that.)

My 132 in a '76 Camaro (back in '78 when I was young and stupid) was confirmed by four units of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. How's THAT for authentication?

Bikes are notorious for inaccurate speedometers. My friends GSXR600 was off by almost 10mph at higher speeds.

197 in a Carrera GT on the main straight of the Nordschleife.

But then I had to pause my game because someone was at the door. (Forza 2)
Never really been too fast in real life. I haven't had any safe opportunities to really get up there. I think 120 in a G coupe was the fastest I've been :\

Doesn't happen too often, but I usually top out any of the car that I drive. Typically it's 155 limited. 120-130 isn't too much of a hassle, but unless you have heaps of power, you need a good amount of road to hit the limiter.

In a 545i, I hit 155 and was able to hold it for a good length of time. I was at about 140+ for a good 5 minutes.

370Z (AT)- Frequently hit 90+, so smooth at 100 you don't realize you're going fast until you approach other cars. Usually cruise at 75-80 and it's very quick to 90. I have my GPS set to alarm if I hit 90 and it's constantly reminding me. To date - 125 top speed. During hard acceleration it first shifted to 7th gear at 120. Very stable at 125 and felt like maybe 80-90 in my other cars..the neighbors got after me for speeding through the community...just kidding.

Yes, the 370 really is a dream to drive in the low 100s. It's extremely stable aerodynamically at speed, and the steering response is great. No problem dropping down from 7 to 5 (or even 4 if under 120) and getting great acceleration in that range too. Again, I just wish there was an 8 (or that 7 was taller) to keep the revs lower when cruising at speed.

Edit: ... on the high-speed closed track course I use regularly
