Lol that was my plan but here's the thing. The closest Nissan dealership is about a 40 minute drive and the other dealership I went to was about an hour drive(only two nissan dealerships to deal with) The dealer that's an hour away said that he will come up with a new quote after I show him what the dealer closest to me gave me. Now I don't want to waste gas and drive up there and back every time I get a new deal(or do I?). Unless I know I can get a fenomenal deal I will.

Honestly what i would do is go back to the dealer that gave you the bad trade in price and try and negotiate with them on that as it may be easier to try and make them offer you more for your trade in then it would be to try and find a dealer close by to you thats willing to offer you a good price. Then again it really depends on how much time you are willing to put into finding a good dealer with a good price. On the other hand you could always try to find a dealer thats willing to order the Z for you at invoice price and wait the 2 or 3 months it will take to get the car to you, in any case it's all up to you in the end as the buyer.

I got this! If I have to I will just go with out the sport package.

Dude, if you go without the sport package you may regret the decision. It's one of the few packaged options that I have ever thought were REALLY worth the extra $.

I would squirm about showing another dealership the competition's quote. When I'm dealing with several vendors at work, drumming up quotes I NEVER show the competition's quote...and for the dealer to ask to see it IMO is unprofessional.

The dealership can go screw themselves if they get tired of you going back and forth with them. It's YOUR money that's ultimately at stake here, not theirs! The economy hasn't gotten to such a state that dealerships can take a potential sale lightly.

Also, is it necessary for you to make the drive each time you want to speak to the dealer? That's what phones are for, man! These guys can very easily speak to you about this over the phone as well (or email as well)! It's a new day and the age of technology is upon us! I still think it might be worth your while to go out of state if there is a dealership within a reasonable distance. I was willing to drive 9 hours to pick up my Z, but was a victim of circumstance when I didn't make the trip soon enough and the Z I wanted was sold.

Have you check out truecar.com , I have used them before. It was honestly painless and very reasonable. A 2010 is selling more than $3K below invoice while 2011 is selling for $750 less here

Lol I know what I'm going to do. I understand how in the long run the sport package is worth it, but I just don't think I can get it right now. If I ask the dealers to give me invoices on other Z non SP then it'll knock at least $2,600 off the price.

Is it possible to add the sport package later?

Sure, you can put a rear spoiler, chin spoiler, bigger wheels and brakes on later...but LSD and SRM? LSD maybe, but you aren't going to be able to get the SRM unless you swap trannys... Hence the advice to pay the extra $ for the sports package.

Go buy the freaken car at the high price then. 4 pages and you're worried about availability, cost, or sport package?

It's already 4 pages long, either you buy the car, or just wait in few months once production resumes. I mean, you could just wait 4 or 5 more months later and then tell everyone "HEY GUYS, I BOUGHT 2012 MODEL AND IT HAS 3 EXTRA THINGS THAT IS BETTER THAN 2011. /sarcasm"

Lastly, where the hell happened to the extra $10000 that you still owed to the altima. How is it a bad trade, you said they want it for 20,000, but you still owed $10,000. That's $10,000 anyways. So you're worried about extra $1000 that's being covered by $1500 from insurance for collision? Buy the car without sport package, slap on some $1000 Limited Slip Diff, bust out $2500 for BBK, and learn how to heal toe. If not, then buy the car with sport package. Too expensive, then save your money and wait until few months. If can't decide, then flip a coin, and then flip it one more time. DONE!

I'm sorry you feel that way, but if I'm pissing you off because I'm trying to get the best advice on buying a Z, then you can easily ignore this thread.

Anyways I would think that saving my money to buy the Z later would be counter-productive. I save money but the value of my altima goes down.

Like I said I've made my choice and I'm going to see if I can get a substancial discount by going without the sport package. It depends on what the dealer can find for me.

all that is true, however this being being your first manual car i would think SRM would help you in the long run to make the transmission last a little longer as that is at least in some small part what SRM is designed for is to provide smooth shifts between gears, hence making it so there is less wear and tear on the gearbox. As for DJ-of-E dont mind him, he's just cranky that he wasnt able to get the color he really wanted cause he didnt want to wait, lol jk

SRM will make your shifting experience a world smoother. Go test drive one...you'll see what we mean!
