isn't the power train 6/60....

iv'e heard you are better off just putting the money into a saving's account
in case something happens...

Extended coverage after your 3 yrs is where the stealership makes the money.

By that time your car will be modded, meaning most of your warranty will be voided anyway or you will have a different car.

To me is a waste of money. Drive it like you stole it during the 3 yrs, if it doesn't fell apart you good to go. Just keep up with the maintenance. ;)

yah, i dont buy extended warranties either. my G's 7yrs old and never once considered getting extended warranty.. as papo mentioned, my cars are modded so warranty doesn't cover much.

I guess I'll play the devils advocate here. I purchased my Nissan Factory extended warranty (Gold Preferred) 96 month, 120,000 mile for a little over $1800. IMHO this gives me a big piece of mind for a $38,600 purchase on my 2011 Touring/Sport/Nav. I can think of many things that can go wrong on this car besides the power train that can cost several hundred dollars to repair. This is a very complicated car and repairs especially from the dealer are not cheap. This warranty also covers unlimited Roadside Assistance so if you have AAA you can drop that coverage. It even covers belts and hoses. I don't plan on keeping this car for 8 years but I guarentee this transferable warranty will be a HUGE selling point to whoever buys my car and will increase my resell value.

I personally never saw the point in it. My other car that I drive is a 2002 EP3 Civic Si hatch that I got new. I still have it to this day 137k miles on it original clutch, etc... Things like belts, hoses and the like you can tell before they need a replacing. The only non-wear item to have failed me in that time was a throttle body, which I replaced myself.

Like others have said - after your initial 3yr/36k - most of the things that would have gone wrong would have done so by now. Also, my Civic is modded (VTAK y0!) so warranty won't be that useful. It's mostly about staying on top of maintenance and learning how to check/service things for yourself.

IMHO -- it's better to stash your money into savings and invest in a service manual so you can do your own repairs. :tup:

not really a big worry for me since the dealer im going through is providing a complimentary 7year/100,000 mile extended warranty on the powertrain and also they are one of the few dealers that is mod friendly :D

I had my RSX-S for 6.5 years. The extended warrenty was around 1800 dollars when they were trying to sell it to me. I believe that the regular warrenty with the car was 4 years.

Basically the last 2.5 years I had the car that was out of warrenty, I only spent around 1200 to fix different problems that came up. This doesn't include wear and tear (tires, oil, oil filter, fluids) items as those are usually not under warrenty. Basically the most expensive part was the clutch and that was about it.

The dealer loves to see buyers like you coming. They made the quote that day... :shakes head:

Extended Warranty doesn't increased the resale value, that is what the dealer makes you think. All it matters is the BB. ;)

Extended warranties make a lot money for the manufacturer, as much as selling the car in the first place if there are big sales incentives. That should tell you something obvious: the vast majority of the time, it will be a losing gamble for you. Of course there are always cases where it payed off for an owner, but you can say the same thing about playing Lotto.

I'm a fan. I paid 2600 for 7/70 bumper to bumper with 0 deductible. If any component of any value goes bad it 2ill pay for itself. Also, it will enhance resale as it will comfort a buyer that I'm not pawning my problems when I do sell.

well seeing that i have nearly 65k on the odo and no problems yet **knocks on wood** don't waste your money
