I have never and will never purchase "extended coverage" for anything. Car, fridge, phone etc. Nothing but pocket lining for those peddeling it.

Wasn't worried about $2600. My car cost over $70K and came with a 3/36 bumper/bumper warranty.
If I trade/sell the car after 3 years, the only thing with a warranty will be the driveline (5/100). If I sell it after only 2 years, it will have a mere 12 months left. How much easier do you think it will be to sell my car to someone with them knowing they have 3-4 years left on the bumper to bumper warranty? I am willing to bet that $2600 will either pay for itself, or save me a ton of trouble selling/trading the car. I sure know I would pay $2600 more for a car with 3 years left on the bumper to bumper than for an identical one with nothing left on the comprehensive warranty. Further, it's a 0 deductible plan through GM, serviceable at ANY GM dealership, with none of the BS associated with aftermarket warranty companies. It has a good reputation, and really does cover things. So yes, if you want to call it "cool-aid", sure, but there are plenty of items on my car that could EASILY eclipse the $2600 I paid if they go out, and that will be nothing but money in the bank come trade-in or sale time. 3rd party warranty? Screw that. Nissan/GM/Ford/etc. factory warranty service? I would jump on it. I know I sure have encountered plenty of cars when I worked at a dealership from a lot of automakers (Nissan included) that their owners wish had had a little more warranty left on them. |

But is sad that for $70K the car only comes with a 3/36 warranty.

i see both sides of this debate.... we all pay insurance on other stuff life, health,
house etc.i have insurance on all that stuff, but i don't sit around and worry about having a heart attack so i can use my insurance.even though i have already paid in thousands in premiums.... this is a car it's not if but when something breaks.... all it takes is one ecm or ac unit... and that 1800 policy would look nice in the glove box........ ok i'm off my soap box...... |

My GM's have done better than my Nissan/Infiniti's of the same year, and the corvette is a better made car than the Nissan, based on PPH ratings. When I bought my corvette, they were at a PPH of 62. So while you are entitled to your own opinions, you aren't entitled to your own facts.
