had a minor altercation at my house last night, meth neighbor was talking smack to my family after someone asking him to slow down(nicely i might add) and he said "hold on i've got something for you, i'm gonna get my gun and kill everylast one of you all"....

had my pistol in my hand behind my back, standing behind my car when he came back and fell out of his car running his mouth again empty handed. cops were on the phone and didn't show up for about 15 minutes, way after the guy had left driving under the influence, and said they can't do anything without a warrant.

got the warrant, knew the guy had come back home, told the cops which were right up the road and they said they were busy...

yes a gun is my only option for my safety

dAvenue, black/black as well. I wanted the bitone, however, at the time they had just been released and the bitones were no where to be found. I have to say the parkerizing they use has held up well, only a few glossy area's where the holster touches the slide is all that was damaged. 3.8 compact will be a bitone!

I get asked a lot why I carry. Quite simply, why not? Put the guess work on the criminals. They have no idea who has a gun and who doesn't. That cannot but help keep crime rates down. I do not feel just anyone should carry. If you do not have adequate time to practice, and you are not comfortable with the firearm, it's probably not for you. Being even tempered and the use of good judgment is also highly recommended. So you will never hear me suggest to someone they should carry. However, there has never been a situation I was in where having my firearm was bad. It's concealed so unless I have to use it, no one knows I have my firearm. And when/if I need it, I have it. I am not a police officer, nor do I think I am. Our police officers are overworked and underpaid, they cannot be everywhere at once. They do a great job, but again, only so many cops per citizen. So, therefore to me it is simply a supplement and peace of mind. Only two guarantees in life... You will die at some point and you must pay taxes, beyond that it's all a gamble. I just want every available chance to defend myself and my loved ones should the need arise.

As for Glocks...My fingers are too big for the Glock grips so they tend to hurt my hands so that is why I simply don't carry my Glocks more than I do. Beyond that, I am a happy Glock owner as well. Reliable, cheap, and consistent. Not only the requirements for the women in my life...but guns as well!

Never had any accuracy issues with my Glock's. Quarter size groups at 25 yards without any problems. The XDm, however, quite simply is a more solid gun, easier to strip due to the XD slide release vs the glock's system. Tighter tolerances in the XDm milling offer a more solid feel and precise action, however makes it more prone to failure if contaminants are present (personally not had this problem as I keep all my weapons clean/lubed). Ammo makes more difference in grouping for me. The match grade internals are nice but with a pistol there isn't much you can do to improve accuracy. The trigger on the XDm certainly feels smoother to me. The bullet is only traveling through 4.5" of barrel in my case. In a semi-auto there are a lot of moving parts. Revolvers used to hold the reigns in accuracy for this reason. Technology has come a long way to even out the playing field.

A Glock due to it's loose tolerances can take sand/water/mud like a champ. Very few guns can perform as reliably while remaining as accurate as a Glock. I can take my glock for example, wash every component with degreaser to remove all lubrication throw it into the dirt, pour dirt over the clip, slide the clip in, rack the slide, and it will fire every time. There is a reason why most police departments, the FBI, DEA, US Marshals, etc chose the Glock as the service weapon of choice. I'm inclined to feel my XDm would not fair as well in environmentally hostile conditions. I don't live in a desert and my back isn't very muddy, so I carry my XDm. Put me in the desert and you would find a Glock in my holster for good reason.


Most military use Sig's almost exclusively 226 (Navy Seals), 228 (Army), 229 (US Air Marshals/Secret Service) (USCG/NCIS/US Postal Service use the 229R DAK 40's). Several units procure their own weapons, and they range anything from an HK, Beretta, Glock, etc... Personal preference, which IMO is the way it should be across the board.

Now when you talk about rifles, that's where you will see serious MOA variances. The barrel actually flexes as the bullet travels, the stainless bull barrels are less flexible and hence improve accuracy. At 300+yards you can certainly see improvements with match grade barrels/trigger groups/etc.. For that side of the house I go to the AR's. When I want some 50yard fun I'll grab my Kalashnikov.

The German Sig's are absolutely top-notch. My 1996 P229 has been a fantastic pistol...reliable, accurate, great trigger. Once manufacturing switched to their Exeter, NH plant, quality of Sig firearms seems to have taken a noticeable nosedive since about 2007. My experience with police departments that have tried to switch to Sig indicates that they have a lot of frustrated armorers from recurrent failures and excessively high maintenance requirements to keep the guns running. I would be very reluctant to recommend current-manufacture Sigs these days.

Although SC allows concealed carry and NFA items, etc, the state is still behind times otherwise. I cannot carry into an establishment like a Ruby Tuesday's because they serve alcohol, for instance. That I don't indulge while there is irrelevant. If I'm planning on going to several other places where I feel I ought to carry then I need to be able to make my sidearm safe and store it while eating or plan on eating somewhere else. If I'm traveling, the same applies if the locale I'm visiting (I have permits from several states that pretty well cover reciprocity, also) has similar restrictions. If I am to leave the firearm in the vehicle I want to be as certain as possible that some cretin doesn't just break into my vehicle but also end up with my firearm also. Due to the limited space available, I'll have to rig up a simple solution.
