$600-$700 "extra"...what to do?

Ok, I'm likely to have an extra $600-$700 tp play with in about a month and I'm trying to figure out what mod todo.

I'm bone stock right now with the exception of the illuminated kick plates.

I was thinking 20 and 25mm H&R spacers, or the Shine Auto front lip... Perhaps get the calipers powder coated by Mike.

What would you all do? Looking for suggestions.

One_Quick_Z 05-29-2011 12:15 AM

Test Pipes for the power and still have money for the spacers :)

HFC's :ugh2:

Red__Zed 05-29-2011 12:20 AM

high flow cats, or save a little more for an exhaust

daisuke149 05-29-2011 12:21 AM

z1 motorsports SS brake lines
Mike to powdercoat your calipers
Motul brake fluid.
z1 motorsports test pipes

shoud be around 750$ (not including shipping/installation!)

KillerBee370 05-29-2011 01:59 AM

A humongous ricer wing and a pair of fuzzy dice for the rearview

That or Fanta or Tab cola

KillerBee370 05-29-2011 02:05 AM

Oil cooler and spacers I guess.

happytheman 05-29-2011 02:29 AM

Hmm, test pipes and spacers...a little cosmetic, a little power. Interesting option.

mikeSS 05-29-2011 02:50 AM

maybe a CAI, and tints.

SophiaZ 05-29-2011 02:54 AM

window tints and windshield eyebrow...very simple and makes a drastic improvement! Or go for HFC's

happytheman 05-29-2011 03:21 AM

Oops, got the tints already! Sorry, guess I shoulda mentioned that, but when living in Florida it's kinda a prerequisite!

happytheman 05-29-2011 03:25 AM

Hmm, starting to take a look at what the Stillen G3 intakes will run me.

happytheman 05-29-2011 03:44 AM

Looks like $549 at Intense Power. Is there a better price out there?

If it runs and looks good, put the money in the bank.

thats not fun. might be good advise, but honestly its such a joy to mod a car. well worth the money.

A.J@CarbonSignal 05-29-2011 05:45 AM

I vote for HFC (or TP if you like noise) then CAI.

BG40thZ 05-29-2011 07:32 AM

I'd either go Stillen G3's or an oil cooler, since you're in Florida

Rone 05-29-2011 08:08 AM

clear bra.

happytheman 05-29-2011 08:22 AM

Yah, I've def thought about the clear but I've got some blemishes to take care of first (not to mention that the clear bra w/installation is going to run me ~$1200).

Can't go wrong with the CNT exhaust.

happytheman 05-29-2011 09:49 AM

Nismo370 05-29-2011 10:26 AM

Oil cooler

Nismo370 05-29-2011 10:27 AM

*34row oil cooler*

happytheman 05-29-2011 10:41 AM

I haven't tracked the car and don't really plan to, so I'm going to see how my temps do. So far I seem to maintain @ ~180°.

How do you manage to maintain 180 in florida? Even during 60-70 degree wheather here in Chicago, I would hit at least 200 and if I am hard on the car then I will see 220-230.

happytheman 05-29-2011 11:10 AM

Good question sir! Unfortunately it's one I cannot explain.

kenchan 05-29-2011 11:53 AM

get spacers and save up to get a real exhaust if you're doing a catback. :)

broken temp gauge?

happytheman 05-29-2011 12:18 PM

Well now you guys have me curious. I'll say this much: my average trip time is ~15 minutes to/from work, so perhaps that is the explanation? I'm going to watch closely Tuesday, because I've got a 1/2 hr trip to Deland to make.

I had my sights pretty much set on the FI with the additional flange to protect the cans from getting scraped.

Sounds good. That or the GReddy would be my choice as well if going catback. :)

Talk to me about the advantages of the brake lines and fluid, as I have not done much reading up on this.

Well, you may not really need it unless you track or do alot of really spirited driving.. but.. If your gonna do your calipers you may as well do em at the same time Since you have to bleed your brakes anyway.

But the advantages are mostly better brake pedal feel / consistency.

And again you may not need the motul fluids, but im the kind of person where ive pretty much replaced all my OEM fluids for Redline or Motul.
