The full coverage will cover the "value" of the car. The gap insurance will cover the difference in what you owe and what full coverage didn't cover. So you will owe nothing on your current loan. So will be left to get another car on your own.

You should probably be talking to your insurance company and Gap coverage company about this...everyone's insurance and Gap coverage is different.

If your car is totaled and insurance/gap covers, no you can't keep the rims.

Sorry to hear that, man. I liked your yellow Z. Did the audio equipment make it through? (this is the guy with custom black and yellow amp/sub set-up in the trunk)

Glad everyone's alive.

If it's truly totaled, it just depends on your insurance companies following through and paying up. If their legit companies, you'll have the full value of what you owe on your financing back in your pocket. Remember, it does take a lot to total these cars...they're valued in the high 20s, low 30s so you need ~$18k in damage to even begin to get it totaled.

If the insurance pays you for a totaled vehicle, it becomes their car. You cannot disassemble it, save for some aftermarket parts that may not be covered by the policy (if you can swap them back to stock).

if the car is driveable, or at home, swap the stock stuff back on before it is looked at, other wise good chance it's gone too.

+1 sorry to read about your accident, your sound system looks great. If your mods were not insured, you won't be compensated for the damages. See if you get it some mods out before they're gone.

what if the insurance company takes his car to the local junk yard could he be able to go there and buy the parts off his car for cheap?

If it's aftermarket stuff and you can replace the original equipment it shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know unless you included aftermarket items in you policy it's not covered so you should be able to swap.

1. If you're not able to get aftermarket parts off the car in place of stock parts before it goes to body shop to determine if total loss then just itemize everything and have receipts (or have some made up). I did this when my Evo got totalled and got payed for everything.

2. Never talk to the other guys insurance company when they try to get a statement from you. Don't even pick up the phone. This is why you have your own insurance agent who you pay to deal with all that.

3. Don't even get out of your car.. just sit and wait for the taxi to the hospital. Wait a sec... you did the hitting? Nevermind. (this could have payed good but you wanted to play demolition derby so you're outta luck here)

Some insurances allow you to buy the car back. That way you can take out what you want then call the junkyard and get like $200 for the shell.
