Where are the 2011 Z's?

I live in the northeast (near Manhattan) and have seen very few 2011 Z's at the local dealerships. Most are 2010 leftovers. I wrote to Nissan to ask if this was due to the recent disasters in Japan. They refused to answer my question and replied "Nissan is not in the position to move forward with your request." Anyone out there having a hard time finding a new Z?

Dzel 05-25-2011 01:49 PM

I just got mine last week.

007MI6 05-25-2011 01:52 PM

I know the dealer I went to only had two Z's and they were both 2010's. They told me that there were two blues in state and one red out of state with my build. The BS one I am getting just showed up on their system as ordered a few days after I was there. So quantities seem limited around here as well.

Dzel 05-25-2011 02:06 PM

The dealership found mine like 100 miles away at another dealership they dudnsome kind of swap or something for me to get it shipped here.

oleg 05-25-2011 03:09 PM

I got mine 3 weeks ago but I ordered it. My dealer told me that they are only making a few 2011 models for the z and are just going to hold off till 2012 to make more again since the only thing they are working on now is to build the GT-Rs that were lost and the leaf.

MB_Z 05-25-2011 03:16 PM

i picked mine up in Feb and it was the only Z they had on lot

bflosabre91 05-25-2011 03:29 PM

i couldn't find any 2011s near me at all. i still see the same two 2010s at the dealer by my work for the last ~4 months. the dealer gave me some crap about the Zs being the sports cars and they come out later in the year than the rest of the fleet.

MacCool 05-25-2011 03:39 PM

Got my 2011 a couple of weeks ago. Local dealer had no Z's, he got mine from Milwaukee, 400 miles away.

wilsonp 05-25-2011 05:14 PM

An autotrader search shows 972 new listings for 2011-2012 370Z and 858 coupes, maybe a month's supply?

That doesn't seem too low to me?

whatthefetch 05-25-2011 05:23 PM

I bought my 2011 March 31st, the dealer had 6 including mine.. No 2010's

Dzel 05-25-2011 05:30 PM

Looks like if you want to buy a Z you need to go south!

2011 Nismo#91 05-25-2011 05:32 PM

I'm in Weehawken, NJ that's probably as close to Manhattan as your going to get. I got the car from Connecticut.

svmtbman 05-25-2011 05:42 PM

Bought mine about 3 weeks ago and had to get it transferred from another dealer about 100 miles away. It was the only 2011 with the options I wanted in the southeast!

Deadman 05-25-2011 06:25 PM

bought mine 2 days ago! They got it from another dealer as well about 100 miles away.

ProfessorDave 05-25-2011 07:51 PM

Canada.

Z_ealot 05-25-2011 07:56 PM

Had to order my 2011 Monterey Blue with the options i wanted, but dealer im going through has about a dozen 2011 Z's on their lot, so yeah they arent in short supply, just hard to find with the options you want.

Masa 05-25-2011 08:49 PM

Mine had to be dealer traded as well as my local one only had 2010 leftovers. The closest Monterey Blue they could find was about 3 hours away from me. They are out there, just gotta keep looking.

You got the EXACT one I was trying to get. There was one just east of Houston, but came to find out the dealer modded it, so no go. Just as well, silver/gray is the usual Bond car color anyway.

You bring up an interesting point. How did the dealer get a car that was 400 miles away? I assume you didn't get a car with 400 miles already on it, so how did they ship it & did they ask you to share the expense?

Drex 05-26-2011 01:51 PM

plenty of 2011s and still some 2010s sitting around this area when i was shopping in march/april.

i used the zag car buying service through usaa when i purchased, and about a week after i took delivery, i got an automated email that the price i had negotiated through zag was no longer valid. apparently the shipments from japan were slowing down (tsunami), so the stock would be low for a while, and they could no longer honor my price. too bad i had already bought it. :happydance:

Got my '11 from a local dealer who had it shipped 300 or so miles. It was hard to get exactly what I wanted but not impossible.

They sent an elderly couple to Milwaukee and they drove it back here. They paid the guy and his wife, but I paid sticker price minus some dealer installed options (mats, lighted kick panels, wheel locks, etc). The 400 miles doesn't count against warranty mileage.

kidkotic2001 05-26-2011 05:40 PM

Both of the Nissan Dealers here only have two 2011 and a about 6 or 7 2010. The dealer let me know that they only have two because of the Japan disaster.

A brand new 2011 m/t base is still shown on Autotrader for about $28,900 and many others still carry prices thousands off MSRP. Buyers should hustle in case prices do rise on account of supply disruption---although in this depressed economy I think it's buyers for less practical cars like 2 seat Z's are what's in short supply.

Davey 05-27-2011 08:15 AM

Dealer I got mine from is still getting new ones in... They do have one '10 leftover that's base + sport in silver, which is not exactly "rare" or anything.

Econ 05-27-2011 08:48 AM

yea, not too many '11's around.

hell, i got a (new) leftover '09 a couple months ago.

cossie1600 05-27-2011 08:53 AM

It's the same car. As long as you get a great deal on it, it doesn't matter

Yeah, remember the depreciation is way higher on the '09 since it's "two years old" the second it leaves the lot.

ClemsonWill 05-27-2011 11:29 AM

My local dealerships have just as man new GTRs as they do new 370Zs. There is one 2011 Nismo. Lots of used 350Zs and 09 370Zs though.

HotZ 05-27-2011 01:36 PM

Where are the 2011 Z's?

Nissan called me last night about my inquiry about low production of 370Zs. They we extremely careful not to comment on actual production, but it sounds like they are only producing the GT-R at this time. At least that is my interpretation - they refused to be pinned down to any really hard information. I wonder why they are so cautious....

dirtrat 05-28-2011 10:49 AM

I don't know, I love my back up camera!

Don't use reverse, you won't see it
