Buying a 370z!
Hi guys I owned a 2006 mazdaspeed6 in the past and a 2004 SRT-4. Just Sold the SRT and am looking to move into a more professional car so to speak. I narrowed my choices down to the 370Z and/or BMW 135i.
Pros to the BMW simple to mod and make 370+whp / cons For a used one im looking at around 30k or a bit under. (pricey) Pros 370Z I think it is a sick looking car and handles amazing; being it only has 2 seats i can use the excuse not to haul others around / cons Difficult to mod for high HP (correct me if im wrong? what are some of the higher modded 370's pushing on stock bottom end?) 2011 Nissan 370Z Coupe 3.7L Manual Touring Coupe is basically the car i'm looking at. MSRP: $39,530.00 and I am basically looking at a OTD price of 36k. My question is how does that fair in the 370z market today? Should i try and work that down? Thanks guys! |

I think you can get it down to 36k before TTL. 36k OTD will be really tough, but its worth a shot!
Just out of curiosity, is the con for the BMW being pricey because it is used vs. new?

I personally think you have made a wise decision. I looked at a BMW 335i before, of course priced substantially higher, and don't get me wrong. It was a sweet car, but I was much happier with my 350Z (2007 at the time). And after a few drives in the 370Z I am still convinced it was right. I also enjoy the fact that the Z is not as common place as the BMW 3 series. Just my $.02 though.

The 370z is much more purposeful than a chic car or a tarted up neon. Id rather the z than the BMW.
Staying na, you will have a hard time making over 320-330whp. Going fi you will safely be at around 400-470whp depending on setup. Last edited by ImportConvert; 05-22-2011 at 12:29 AM. |

Honestly, I'm still dumbfounded on the phrase "Sold the SRT and am looking to move into a more professional car so to speak."
Then again, I know of the former Pacific Region Bank of America President who drove a Ford Pinto for 10 years before purchasing a USED 1993 Nissan 300zx Turbo.

I'm guessing by professional, OP meant somewhere along the lines of more mature, costly, and promotes a more stable image of the individual. While our cars are never going to be the model of maturity, fiscal responsibility, giving a ****, or many other things, it is far more "professional" than a pre-riced Neon

The Beemer is a nice car. But they are as common as chlamydia, and have the same symptom profile (you don't think you have anything, and then one day wake up with the same infertility problem as all the other bavarians). Get the Z.

Well happy to say i went with the Z actually a black 2011 Base with Sport package. It is getting shipped to the dealer tomorrow
When i realized the differences between the touring with sport pkg and base with sport i could not justify spending that much more. I ended up getting the base with sport pkg OTD for 34950 i do believe. I never was a fan of leather and the heated/pwr seats are no big deal to me tbh. The BOSE system is good but i think i can do better (assuming some people on here have put in their own head units/speakers) Overall i'm thinking i will be pretty happy with the car! Can't wait! Maybe "professional" was the wrong word, but just a classier more mature car. Its a great looking sports car come on! I picked up the neon to flip which i did, and the mazdaspeed6 actually was a very nice car. Being that i owned the MS6 prior to the neon; I could not handle the neon interior or car in general, hence the reason for me going with a car with a generally nice interior and just an overall blast to drive! Hope this clears everything up |
