I guess it makes sense, but still, kind of contradictory to the overall mission of the Corvette itself.

Well, we could say their overall mission is to sell cars, so if old dudes are the ones buying them, they have to cater to that. From my experience owning a vette and running with that crowd, I would say very few of these things are seeing the track. Most of them become weekend cruisers.

True. Obviously they want to sell cars, but it almost seems to me that if you go that route why not offer a V6/V8 package type of thing. To all who are gearing up their flamethrowers, yes I know it's blasphemy, but if you're going to neuter the seats in a car that runs like a raped ape, might as well neuter the engine too

I have to disagree there. swapping seats out is much easier than doing an engine swap. Just swap the seats if you dont like them.

Very valid point. I was more playing devil's advocate there, if you're making certain areas of your car "soft" to better cater to your target demographic, 430+ horsepower, huge brakes, etc seem a little redundant wouldn't you say?

Word. Most people that drive hard do that anyways.

Its not like the 370z seats are that great either. The civic si an the maxima have better bolstering.

Are there a lot of people that have all their mods pre-planned? I look at the Z and just see a car that I'd want to get into and drive it like I stole it.

If I didn't need my back seats . . .

They haven't have a Z51 in the better part of half a decade. Like said, the seats are re-designed for '12 as well. Also, a set of seats isn't a big deal, won't void a warranty, and won't cost an arm and a leg.

Yes, and the 370Z will be "Collegemobile 5000". All cars will now be named after their stereotypical demographic, lol.

Part of the reason kids have 370Z's and older people or older kids like myself (at 25, I consider myself a kid compared to many) have Z06's and whatnot is because of income (or lack), not because one was designed for a certain age. It was designed for a certain income-level. The target median income of the average Z06 owner in 2006 was $130K according to GM's market study before releasing the car per their sales DVD that I lucked into buying from someone on another forum (Dealer item only).

I'm really not seeing anything extraordinary about either. You will note, though, the HIGHER BOLSTERS on the corvette seat.

The only OEM seats on cars under $100K I can think of that are full of win for the track are in the Viper.

2012 seat looks pretty great to me. Still wouldn't want them in a track car though, but that's kind of irrelevant, because I wouldn't want track seats in a mostly street car.

Also I doubt the average age of a Porsche owner versus a Corvette owner is that different, not sure why the Corvette always gets slammed as an "old man" car.


edit: lol, Import, you should just start a Corvette thread, like we have a Mustang thread, I think there's enough interest and there are a few Corvette owners on the forum. I'd certainly be interested in hearing from you guys.

What do you want to hear from us? 190+mph top speed, 0-60 in around 4 seconds or less, 0-100 in around 9 seconds or less, and over 1G on the skidpad in a car that gets great mileage (My Z06 got a manually figured 26.02mpg over 117 miles the other week on the freeway including some on/off ramps and a bit of WOT. I covered the same ground twice, coming and going, so that eliminates "going down hill" all the way as the reason.).

Really that's about it. Corvette's perform right up there with the top of the line imports from Porsche, Ferrari, etc. they are affordable, and the interior isn't nearly as shabby as people want to pretend that it is to justify having bought something else.

*However*

The only 370Z and corvette that can be compared are loaded 370Z's and the coupe C6, simply due to price. Comparing a Z06 to a stock 370Z just doesn't equate price-wise. Sure, each car does something better than the other here or there, but then, my daily beater does some things better than a Ferrari. Noone really cares.

Yeah I dunno, I'm just tired of reading about the Mustangs. Only one I was even remotely interested in was the Boss 302LS, but that has faded away for me.

YEs I love my 370Z! Just rolled over 35,000 miles and I loved and enjoyed every single one of them. If you're looking into a raw sports coupe that that two seats, harsh ride, noisy, natural aspiration engine , great stlying etc then 370Z is your pick. If you wanna stay comfy, want the back seats, like those BMW amenities, I highly suggest you look into 335i coupe (sorry 135i just doesn't look appealing to me for some reason).
