And for the record every video of a burning car I see on the side of the road costs north of 200k. I've never seen a Z burst into flames for no good reason whatsoever. I guess more R&D is needed over in Italy. :rolleyes:

I think also if you want the fastest 0-60 time you can expect to pay around 65k (you can pick up an Arial Atom for about that nowadays)

All I can say on the question asked by the OP is the Z is a bonifide sports car. I find it fine as a DD, with a sport pkg. Its ride is hard but compliant for what it is. When you buy bimmers audis and muscle cars. You are also buying convenience and functionality. Albeit, this car is very functional, for a sports car. The others are just functional as cars in general.

Fun factor, this car is way more fun for the money. If you are trying to get to 60 as fast as you can? This car will get there very fast, BUT you can buy faster ones still for the same price. But if you have advanced driving ability and want a car that will do anything you ask it to??? The Z IS FOR YOU. IMHO, No car in the price range handles as well and as true as the Z.

I would just test drive it first. Then comme back on the forum and ask more questions and use our search for whatever concerns you have. Go to the forums of other cars you are interested in as well. Test drive all the cars you like. Its the best way to get a feel for what you want out of a car.

The carbon fiber bodywork alone on the Saleen S7 costs around 150k for Saleen to produce. The engine bay of the McLaren F1 is coated in gold (for heat dissipation purposes). Then add in carbon-ceramic brakes, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, etc. I mean, come on now.

Back to the OP's question, I think the 370z offers a lot of car for 35k.

Check Lou Fusz Nissan in the St. Louis area (I am not affiliated with them), he is a member on this site and runs specials from time to time, like $1500 below invoice (invoice, not MSRP). Lou is a great guy, I did buy my car from him, and even though you live in LA, people from all over the country have bought from him. Google the dealership and give him a call. He will work with you.

By the time I would pay for the gas or flight or shipping it would be the same dofference or close enough to it to not warrant the $1500. I appreciate the advice none the less.

Buy the 335i. I thought about buying a 370Z and slapping a TT setup on it, right before I saw people selling cars like that and getting hosed on resale. Heck, I am already thinking of trading my Z06 in on a C7 or '10 last edition Viper in another year and a half. You rarely keep a car forever, and you will take a serious bath on a TT 370Z unless you find THE customer.

However, if you want to keep the 370Z stock, I drove a few. Yes, it's easily worth $35K. Very well-made at its price-point.

You think your 370Z is the pinnacle of engineering and the rest of the money in an F458 goes into the name? I am considering either trading my '11 Z in on a '13 Z if they do a 60th anniversary package that is tasteful and it's the last year for the C6, or going '10 SRT-10.

The reason I am back-pedaling on the C7 is that every time GM comes out with a new 'vette, it takes another year or two to come out with the performance model, and then another few years to work out the kinks. It's only natural, but I would rather the fully evolved C6 platform for a "keeper". This car will have built my credit and given me experience in a 500+ hp 3200# vehicle as well as having owned one, I now better know what options I like, and would like.

That being said, the 370Z I drove felt like a slower Z06 with a softer suspension and better sterio. It's a really really nice car in its price-range. If $35-40K were my budget, and 280whp were enough, it's the car I would buy.
