If you FI the Z, a lot of the harshness in the engine would resolve. Then people will say the Z motor sounds too sedate. When comparing asian to german, people will always nitpik the asian while letting a lot of things slide on the german car.

YouTube - GTM 370Z TWIN TURBO CUSTOMER TEST DRIVE
In this video, the first thing customer notices, his engine is smoother and a little quieter. Then he notices the adrenaline of his turbo. This is quite a normal effect for a v6. Drive a 328 and a 335I. At WOT the 328 is louder. |

I'm no expert either but I have owned a couple of turbocharged cars. I've driven a few turbo and non turbo as well. I used to own a GN and I remember my 3.8 being smoother than the v8. I just had that turbo whistle.

A turbo sitting on your exhaust pipe has literally nothing to do with engine smoothness. It may quiet down the exhaust note, and it will remove some high frequency components, but the harshness in the motor won't disappear with FI...

They didn't do any suspension work. That's the GTM garage and a stock Z with turbo. You can even here the engine is lower compared to other vids. The only turbo I've heard that's louder than stock is that one they remove the muffler to install.

Let me just correct one thing. I been saying turbos. I should be saying twin turbos. Single turbos have a different effect. That part is my bad. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 05-16-2011 at 10:05 PM. |

The harshness won't dissappear but it might abate some of it. I know when I added my CBE and Injens, the engine was not quite as harsh above 6k but it certainly wasn't smooth. There was a noticable improvement, though.
