See I went from a 46k G37s sport with all options. Intell cruise, nav, moonroof etc... I sold it to pay some medical bills. I opted to sell a car than pull 35k out the bank. I could've went and bought the G37ipl with that sick azz color which is a Real Black Cherry, unlike the garbage version on the Z. But I chose the base sport 7at to mod and challenge myself and the tech guys that will be helping me to make a great, fast and reliable FI 7at that kicks *** on the track.
Between the stillen valve body, GTM torque converter and the 7at's variable sport modes and infinite gear ratios. I believe the automatic Zed can be a benchmark performer in spite its transmission being non-dct. Operationally, the cvtcs is just as good if not better due to the gear ratio advantage. What sux is torque converter drone. But performance over sound. I chose a lightly used one that I carefully picked in order to save extra money and apply more mods. With 4.800 miles and it being a year one car. I took that instead. I noticed the year one cars are the ones that hit the mid-high 4's to 60, while other years do more low 5's. It seems the originals are less bogged down and more brisk. I guess all those tsb's on the 10 and 11 models slowed the car down. The one I purchased has no ecu drone so I got lucky. So now I'm in the process of ordering my first 4 mods. I'm really excited. |

I've got both. Totally different cars, but I think the z4 s35 would smoke the z in a drag race. It's my wife's car so I don't drive it much, but I discovered launch control on it and it freaking flies off the line.

The Z never had a chance against the Beemer on Top Gear. Clarkson is notorious for his Europhile bias when it comes to cars. He's never really liked the Z.

I did. Top Gear is one of my favorite shows, so I saw this when it first came out. It kind of shocked me when I first saw it that, after all the good things he said about the Z, he ended it with JeffBlue's sig:
"So what we're saying is: buy the BMW because it's slower, less exciting, more expensive and less well-equipped." Now that may have been just a bit of a toss-off for a funny, but when the Z beats a car in nearly every category and you choose its opponent... well, sorry, but that's just not playing fair! And please, the Z4 does NOT look better than the 370Z, yet the Top Gear crew was all gah-gah over it. To me, at least, the Z4 looks

I think that line was a nod to the Z. |

It's interesting how differently people can interpret things, eh?
No sweat, if that's how you read it. For me, at least, I interpreted it as them preferring the BMW no matter how the Z performed. And I think they were a little too pleased by the looks of the BMW, certainly more than those of the Z. They were literally gushing over the BMW. I was also a little offended by the fact that the Z had to share the spotlight at all!
