Default Driving Help

Had my automatic Z for two years as a DD. For the first time at a stop light I decided to turn off traction control, press the brake and the gas and let the car lift a little bit and then dump it. The car immediately started squirming within the lane like it couldn't put power to the ground/wheels. I redlined 1st and shifted to 2nd, chirped the tires AGAIN and had a little more wiggle.

As a first time sports car driver I have never experienced this before. The car spun the tires, squeeled out a little and then was like a bucking bronco for several hundred feet.

Pretty scary, but for all possible flamers, no traffic around and on a straight line and got off it in 2nd gear so speed was reasonable

Can someone who has an auto who has launched without traction control on explain WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED, or am I just being a baby and this is normal for a very fast sports car.

I felt totally out of control with the car and a friend says everything that happened is normal and I just need to learn the car. When I usually redline or goose it WOT traction control is on and i feel confident.

This incident the other day left me feeling like I cant control my car if I go to the drag strip.

Normal. Base 7AT? No LSD, no VDC, no traction. If you left tire marks behind, check and it'll probably be just on 1 side. How wide are your tires?

was it cold? hows the weather? likely just some wheel hop, especially since you dont seem to have the VLSD. with VDC off, its just the nature of a high horsepower car.

You tried to launch the car by pressing brake+gas. The ECU won't let you do that. If you want to do a burnout, just turn off VDC and floor it from a standstill.

Edit: this is to protect your transmission i believe. Oh and it also wont let you do brake burnouts either (either that or im a gimp and just cant do it lmao)

I agree with Chops, that was wheel hop you were feeling. Too much power, too little grip.

Turn mine off everytime I drive but I have a stick. I love the option when its raining for safety but on a regular day I want to be able to kick out the *** and show stop at Red lights! I hate the feeling you get from the Traction control in 1st gear, it feels like someone is holding the car back. I agree with Econ, congrats on the "achievement"

-Houston, we have lift off!!-
