That's why we shop for bang for the buck because we are not part of that market! That's also why I can afford to have and play with my Z.

JDM 4 LIFE... there's always a better car than a JDM until that JDM is modded. People like to put caps and limitations in the forums to what our jdms can do modded. Then they go to the track and learn the reality.
(Yeah yeah... we car comparing stock, but jdms are tuners non the least. And if we can compare cars that are 30k more then y not throw in the modded factor? Only fair.) Audi is better. Ok, yeah.. for $60k, damn I would hope so. Truth is though. You can own a lambo and drive like a complete dunk... and another can be driving a Z like it was a ferrari. So much emphasis on numbers and so little emphasis on skills. That's why people are crashing sports cars left and right. Fairlady+Skyline= affordable cars built to match or exceed performance of cars double the price. Refined? Who bought a sports car to be refined? Refined and sports car match like p1ss and mattress. |

Frankly, our cars don't have bad brakes. They have bad brake pads and can use more cooling. With better cooling, the stock pads would actually be fine for a little C&D test. And their crash in the wall wasn't brake fade...I'd almost guarantee they ice'd.
I'd love to have the TT-RS. My father has a TTS and it's a sick little car. The double clutch is incredibly fast but also incredibly boring to use. Thank goodness Audi realizes that the manual is the car to deliver over here. 99.99% of TTRS owners will never time-trial race their cars, so the twin clutch benefits really do nothing except driving experience. CMike, Thanks for posting that link. I missed that. 3.6s is stupid fast and the territory of AWD cars or extreme RWD supercars only (or less extreme, rear-engine supercars ). The Z can't compete with those numbers. Interestingly though, the Z's track lap time wasn't far off the TT-RS. Drop the $$ difference between the two cars into the Z and the TT-RS is toast.

The problem with comparisons like this is that you bring in all the "it's faster so it's better" type comments. It must be hard to comprehend that sometimes, speed is not the biggest factor and after driving a few Audis s (TTS, B9 S4), they may be fast and refined but they are not really exciting for the driver in my opinion. There are many cars that are slower than most, but offer more fun factor. Isn't that the point?

No it isn't. A roll out is not a rolling start. Think about it: how do you roll with launch control?
A roll out is the most common method of launching a car, it's also what's used at drag strips. Basically, there is 5-feet of space from your front wheels and the starting line. This 5-feet effectively adds 2MPH to your overall 1/4 trap, as well as shaves time. |

Here is Inside Line's assessment of roll out. I tend to agree that using roll out with 1/4 mile times seems appropriate as the 1/4 mile convention is from drag racing (where roll out is used). Conversely, roll out in 0-60mph times defeats the purpose of calling it 0-60. Roll out makes it ~5-60mph and falsely improves a vehicle's perceived acceleration time.

Hey I have an idea. Let's get rid of our Z's and make this the mustang GT/Audi TTRS forums. Why drive our now useless Z's that don't match up to 420hp v8's and 60k german limited production cars that will most likely be upmarketed to the highest bidder??? Thread is fail. |
