Default 370Z Gas Gauge Never Full

The last couple months when I fill up my gas tank the very right LED dot never lights up. I've tried topping it off until gas almost spills out the neck and it makes no difference. The little bugger never lights up. Anyone else had a similar problem? I don't want the dealer to have to tear apart my dash to fix it. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks!

I filled mine up today ($100 grrr!) and noticed that the first LED either never lit or went out pretty quick. It must be a small glitch. No biggie in my book.

I don't like the other end of the spectrum though, when the gauge goes from 50 miles left to fumes in a matter of minutes. This happened to me last summer on remote stretch of highway and I was ******** bricks until I found a station just in time...

Search will show you others have had similar problem. It is normally a sensor issue, not a dash issue, I think.

Others have said sometimes it will light up after a little driving.

The fuel sending units. Changing it may or may not make a difference. It's a common problem with different Nissan/Infiniti models because of the design of the fuel tank and how it straddles the centre hump. I have the same problem with my 370Z and FX45. Debating whether or not to have it swapped out in the Z.

Thanks everyone! When I take it in for service next time I'm going to have them change the sensor. Why not get it fixed while it's under warranty, right? Especially considering they only give you three years.

Because their stupid techs will mess it up and you'll have a fuel leak or something else ridiculous. I've learned to just do everything myself.

I also have this issue sometimes (not all the time) and it usually will go all the way up after I drive for a bit (usually).

I just had this problem fixed on my Z a couple of months ago - the dealer replaced the two fuel sending sensors (under warranty).

These gas guage threads really make me laugh. How many are there now.....a dozen?

The top of the guage shouldn't concern people (I have no idea why it does). IT'S THE BOTTOM OF THE GUAGE THAT'S THE IMPORTANT PART!! After all, you would think that wanting to know when you are going to RUN OUT would be a little more important than: "I wonder how many more drops can I get in the tank?"

wow

How do you know when you're going to run out of gas if one or both of the sending units is obviously not accurate? It's not about how many more drops of gas you can get in the tank - it's about trusting the gas gauge reading. And I especially wouldn't rely on the gas guage at the bottom of the tank if I can't rely on it at the top of the tank, nor would I think very many people are going to run the tank dry to find out where "E" really is...

Not to mention, the OP just wants to know if there's something wrong with his Z - there is, and it happened to mine and others too. It's not big deal to have the problem corrected, doesn't require that the dash be torn apart (which is what the OP was worried about), and it is covered under warranty. Don't know why this thread would make you laugh.

Wow indeed...

You're kidding right? You should be concerned with when you will run out of gas. Not how full you can get it.
