Lower engine cover

I was gonna change out my stock thin plastic engine cover for the metal after market one with the oil access door, but after further pondering, I think I am gonna remove it completely! I know engine & oil should stay cooler, and there's really not much protection. I am just wondering about aero dynamics and mileage possibly. Wanted some opinions.

Leave it. If you are worried about oil temps, get an oil cooler.

The lower cover is there for a reason and serves an important aerodynamic purpose. It also helps to keep debris out of the engine bay and serves as an extra little layer of protection should you run something over on the road.

I bought one of these for my 350. Good guy to deal with. Very meticulous also.

Get an oil cooler, and leave cover alone.

The cover does not have to be removed to change your oil. Just a few bolts and you can flap it back on the "hinge" that's molded into it, and use a bungee cord to hold it back so its out of your way.

For as often as you do oil changes, it's not that big of a deal unless you drive 5000 miles a week. Even then its simple & easy. No oil filter mess to clean up from the tiny trap door in the aftermarket metal options out there.
