Default Your Tires

I damaged a tire and have to replace it because it can't be repaired. Here in Houston, Texas there was NO ONE who had that size in stock. Nissan didn't even have it in stock. I got so SICK of hearing, "that's a rare tire size."

Oh yeah, Nissan said they are $405 a piece!

What do you think of run flats? Discount Tire has the Bridgestone Potenza run flats for $424 a piece.

Question

This size will make its way to the market; you just got caught in the beginning phases. Run flats can be noisy, and you might not like that aspect. Have you tried purchasing the tire out-of-state?

Have you looked into tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com?

You can buy them off tirerack.com. Around $330 + shipping I think.

I have a full set of 4 (2x275 + 2x245) that were taken off at 400 miles that I'm going to try and sell soon.

The dealership offered me a road hazard type protection on my factory tires and I took it. I sure hope they have them in stock if I need them

+1 for Tirerack:

Tirerack RE050A

Shipping will be about $20. They have a warehouse in Shreveport so you would receive the tire in 1-2 days (I almost always receive the next day).

Yes, by all means do not purchase tires from Nissan unless you want to get ripped off. They told one of the GT-R boys his tire was $800 a pop!! But Tirerack has it for $378.

I plan on purchasing the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for my next set: they are a nice all season tire with very high tread wear. You may want to give them a gander (Tire Rack). Which ever you choose please try to get some form of road hazard protection, at this price point unexpected surprises do sting just a little bit more.

Only reason I don't like 19" wheels, it's the odd child in rims/tires, and they make you pay for it............20's are cheaper....

but for sports cars 18's and 19's are the way to go.......

Buying takeoff from another member on here will probably be the cheapest alternative.

Otherwise, just go through tirerack. For the last two set of tires I've bought, I actually go through discount tire and just have them price-match tirerack's prices. Much more convenient and I end up with cheaper install prices.

They're all fairly noisy. They are wide tires and there is no significant sound insulation to speak of. However When I installed the Bridgestone RE-11's I noticed that the frequency of the tire rumble changed and it's actually a little more pleasant now as the tire is a continuous block design.

Yeah that's the reason I always go with 18's on my car. Although I am thinking about a set of 20's for this one since it isnt driven more than 50 miles in a week.
