If this person was worried about being hit by other cars they wouldn't be parking in this spot that is so close to the front of the lot. This is a bad parking job, not horrendous like some others here, just bad or maybe poor. Better yet, lazy.
A smart Z driver parks in the back and simply pulls through two spaces so he never has to worry about backing up.

because you can't see **** out of the back sides of this car. Pulling out of a parking spot front ways is a lot safer because you can see the traffic and people walking coming both ways very clearly. When you back in to the parking spot you don't have to worry about anything coming from the side and clipping you. This all seems to be common sense in the mid-a group...

and bdavis what you suggests means the driver of the car in the picture in question would have to hop the curb and sidewalk but yes in general thats a good idea.

But couldn't it be argued that real Z drivers don't need to back in to a parking spot to be able to safely leave the spot?

I shouldn't have used the term "real z driver" i guess. fact is backing out of a parking spot can be dangerous because you can't see what is coming from the sides at all. Friends used to make fun of me bc I back into all my parking spots now, they thought I was doing it to be cool. sorry, I'm not in my twenties any more, not much is done anymore bc its "cool" I tend to have practical reasons for my madness now a days.

I'm just messin' with you. I feel your pain. When I back out, I just inch, inch, inch, inch, inch until I can see. Don't know how other "real z drivers" do it but that's my technique. But really, I rarely park where I'd have other cars around me. I'm usually in no man's land where you can see all around and if anyone's walking or driving by you'd see them coming for miles. I'm glad to have a downward slope to my driveway so I don't have to brutalize the clutch every time I leave the house.

the "real Z drivers" are getaway drivers and back in so they are always ready for a hasty exit.

True. But you can't always do that. What if the parking spots are on the edge of a parking lot, which means it's a dead end on one side.
