How is there not a class action against Nissan yet? Anyone want to step up?

No, what OP is saying, and this is a universal problem when tracking, is that even with 3/4 or more of a tank, you can get fuel starvation issues with long right handers.

Iirc, Mike on here, had fuel starvation with only 2 nuggets down from full on the gas guage at one track event--that's a serious issue imo.

Now, as far as the est distance to empty issue, I'll pass on the lawsuit, thanks.

Apparently the estimate wasn't even in the ballpark as the car was screaming for gas 35 miles before my arrival. With 35 miles to go, the 60 miles warning came on. Within 10 miles, the estimate went from 60 to zero!!! Of course this had to happen in the middle of no where and during a thunderstorm. After a nerve-wrecking 20 miles drive, I finally was able to find a gas station. How can a gas gauge be off by this much? I understand most gauges are not linear, but who the f would design a gauge that would accelerate near the end?!?

Let's not even get me started about the fuel starvation with 1/4 tank gone on right turns!

Since Nissan won't come up with a fix, can someone step up and sue these SOBs!!!
Yes someone can!! YOU can! Let us know how it turns out. What a dumb ***!!

My 350Z's Distance To Empty was ridiculous as well. My work commute is about 50 miles, and I wouldn't dare try it unless it was 120 or over when I left the house.

The best thing you can do with the multi-function gauge is set it on "outside air temperature."

Just keep track of your miles, know what your average is...and pay attention. C'mon folks..we've been doing this all our lives. If you tank gets down to a single dot....fill it. Do not pass go...do not collect $200. Fill it.

When in doubt, fill the spout.

I can tell you this:

The LED gauge is set to underestimate what's left in the tank. I've been using the PLX Kiwi Wifi OBDII unit with Dash Command for the iPhone. It gives you a % of fuel remaining in the tank, and it's shaping up to be much much more accurate. I think the car's systems know exactly how much fuel there is left, but the LEDs are programmed to go out with a reserve of about 1 gallon. That being said, the miles to empty also goes to ------ with about a gallon or 1.5 gal left in the tank. My friend tested it out 'Kramer style' and drove 30 miles beyond the ----- without running out. He then put 18.965 gallons in his tank!

I'm willing to bet you had quite a bit more gas left when you refueled. You think ours is bad, take a look at the old z4s. They used to run out showing 1/8th tank

Because anyone that actually cares about lap times tries to run with as little fuel as they can.

I always try to keep my tank above 1/4 so I don't run out of fuel. I understand the concern but Nissan is not going to to jack Sh*t about it.

I always refuel at a 1/4 tank left. This way, if I have to make any extra trips or can't fill up immediately, I still have like 100 miles to do so.

I get about 300 to 340 miles to the tank. So I fill up once I have driven somwhere around 250 miles. Or at 200 miles if I have driven like I stole something. Problem solved. It takes about .001% of brain power to make these calculations.
Some of you crack me up. What's really going on is you bought a sports car. You wanna drive it to the fumes, may it be due to rising gas prices or just tight with money? Gas is not lasting as long as you like and its pissing you off. So u wanna blame someone except yourself. Lmao.
If this was a serious issue? Something would have happened. This car has been around almost 3 years. Nissan has issued every tsb possible except for one that I would truly complain about which is the oil cooler. But I don't even want to get into that. I will just do that myself.
Let's pretend there is a fuel gauge issue??? Have you gone to a dealership to explain your situation? Have you checked for any fuel computer TSB's? Have you compared your experience to others?
I'm not suing nissan. Its the best non premium brand on the market in my opinion. The may not be the most feature rich but every car is extremely well built and reliable for the money. And almost every car is fun to drive in some capacity. The Z IS IMPECCABLE IN EVERY WAY.
Everybody in this country wants to sue. It kills me. Don't blame Mc Donalds cuz ur fat!! Blame yourself. Lol. If u r cheap on fuel. Buy a hybrid or something that mises gas.
