Thanks mikeSS. That is why I love my monthly C&C fix. So many different, incredible, and personalized cars (and trucks, don't want to leave them out). This Sunday, a large group of Cars & Coffee regulars are going to be meeting up in the morning to roll into Ferraris on the Vine at the Williamsburg Winery. What a freaking great day that is going to be!

We have a similar show up here every Sunday morning... a wide mix of regular sports cars and exotics. Good times. Speaking of C&C, I need to make it down to Williamsburg sometime this summer. Especially since you guys are more established now there will be an even bigger showing than last October when I went with the DC-Area Z club.

It just seems we have a few Z buyers that went back to mustangs when the 5.0 came out and now they want everyone in the Z forums to trade there car in for a ford. And it seems to be working cuz some of you spend more time talking about how fast a mustang is and how nissan needs to change a car that's inherently a 6 cylinder into a v8.
They will never do that cuz they spent there whole time in building cars that they can build v6's as fast or faster than v8's with half the displacement. The Z is almost as fast as the current camaro, faster than any muscle car v8 before 2010. And the GT-R is the fastest production car out now. Just in case you bring up bugatti, they are not production cars. The Z also outhandles all the other cars. That doesn't mean its fastest around a track. It means it gives the most feedback. I know some of you will knock what I'm about to say because these convos are based on stock cars but. Id take an FI'd Z over a stock muscle car. Lighter, faster and more feedback. The other cars will always feel heavy without turning them into a shell with a motor. One thing I like doing is watching production videos. The only car in america that I see being made with the same amount of passion as a Z are the high end vettes. I have to respect a company that puts as much love into there 30k production car as our american car builders only seem to put so much soul into the Z06 and ZR-1 which are 3x more expensive. The passion in mustang doesn't come from the factory as the Z. It comes from rousch, carroll shelby team and svt. They are the ones that make the mustang truly special, historically. In 2011 I will give the mustang its dues on the 5.0 and its boss. The mustang hasn't been good without the 5.0 n now u guys got it back. Kool. But 3 years later, the overall build quality of a 370z base still supercedes all the muscle cars. I'm not hating on muscle cars. I almost dipped into a camaro and I really love that new BOSS. My admiration and adoration for imports kept me home with the fairlady though. What gets me is now cuz these cars are a quarter second quicker. The Z is less significant? The Z is only rivaled by the 135 n miata in quality. (Those doors are kickin. Lmao). No. NA-v6 out there beats it. Remember that the Z is a v6 with no turbo and can do the quarter in 13.1 seconds when driven in automatic with the paddles and shifted correctly. The Z is only rivaled by the 60k+ cayman S in performance. That says a lot. But you still wanna compare the v8 mustang with almost 100 more hp and over 100lbs more torque and is a whole other breed of car...U gotta be kidding me???? Lastly... in a big way, fast n furious really screwed up the enthusiast market. It made muscle car and germaphile enthusiasts want to buy japanese imports but they buy the cars with the mindset of a muscle car enthusiast, not as an import tuner enthusiast. You can't think bout v8 power when you buy these cars. Its a whooooole different philosophy which a lot of you don't seem to get its about being one with your car, not driving an automotive rodeo on wheels... A lot of you bought these cars to impress chix or the neighbors, not to embrace this cars "true heritage" Now that there are faster cars out there u want something with a v8. When you go to the track and see a modded Z smoke a stang or a vette. You will watch in envy and say. "Damn I shoulda modded my Z that I traded for the stang. And I'm so upside down I can only put intake and exhaust on the stang. Everyone is jockin that guy cuz he beat my stang with a v6 Z, damn I used to have one." Lmao...That's how some of you guys live. Envying others and striving to be envied... Kinda wack. Buy the v8 cuz u luv the v8 for what it is. Not for what it can beat. If u gonna be at the track every week? Then you need to buy what you are most comfy in for racing and mod. Cuz any modded sports car makes it a drivers race at the track. Its all about how much u willing to spend more than the cars stock capability. Weak minded envy will dent your pockets with upside down trade ins. Too many red light racers and not enough true enthusiasts. Fairlady Z and Skyline to the death! FTW. |

unknown, frist off 370z are lighter than the v8 competitors, thats why they don't need a v8 and that doesn't mean Nissan is making some great engines that get the same power of todays v8s with half of the displacement. v8 = more power end of story. but of course power is not everything if the car weighs a to much.
i am happy ford is making a car that is making a name for it self. and kicking the crap out of its over seas competitors. you should be happy that the country you live in is making better cars. mustang FTW american FTW

I'm sure some of this is addressed at me, so I will respond.

Passion? I'd say the guys that design the Mustang are just as passionate about it as the guys that design and build the 370. The Z is just another assembly line car at the end of the day. It's not put together by hand by a small team of technicians like a Lamborghini or Ferrari (which now use a lot of automation, by the way!). Quote:

I don't think any muscle car enthusiasts were drawn to imports because of the movie... if anything they were pushed away. And a whole new crop of teenage idiots with econobox cars suddenly decided they were "tuners" and would unintentionally make a mockery out of the legitimate import tuner scene. Quote:
Oh, and pay with cash and you'll never go upside down.
