People that do not respect cars!!
It is annoying when people can't believe how protective I am (as well as everyone else on here i'm sure) is of their car. To give an example I was out with friends for a game tailgating and someone tried to set their drink on the trunk of my car.:shakes head: He started to set it down when I yelled at him. This led into a big discussion about how it can't hurt the car and I shouldn't worry about how clean it is. Am I over reacting or is everyone love their car as much as I do:tup:

OP- you did the right thing to yell at him. the can will scratch the soft clearcoat.
if you're a detailer type like me, anything harder than a plush MF towel should not make contact with the paint especially when dry. and the object better not drag on the paint. |
Next time ask him if he would get mad if you was to put your drink on his girlfriends/wifes butt. Then he may understand how you feel about your car. I am still looking to find the security system that tazers a person if they get within 5 ft of her!!!!

It has nothing to do with how clean you keep your car...it is YOUR CAR and he shouldn't even consider sitting a drink on it unless he asked permission. My guess is he wouldn't consider not using a coaster on his coffee table at home so why would he think it would be ok to use your car?
BTW I was born and raised in Big D...maybe it is just a Texas thang? |

If it's not yours, don't touch it! Simple rule. Why can't people just follow that rule? Let me tell you why...no common sense or no respect.

yep, I overreact when it comes to my Z. I almost fired one of my worker for sprying windex on my windshield and wipping it off with greasy towel. It left a nice greasy streak. I detailed my car the day before too.

OP: you have every right to get their attention and tell them not too, that fact that they argued is even more pathetic than thinking metal cannot scratch paint.
It seems like the more you care for a car, the more things seem to some your way. I swear that is true in my own experience and it can be truly infuriating. To sit in a car, have someone park next to you, slam their door into your car, and look at you with not one hint of regard for what they did is appalling. Then, even when you get out and confront them, they say that it is just a car or who cares you can barely even see the dent. |
