If something like this happens ask for their insurance info if they walk off let them, immediately call the local police dept and have them dispatch a officer to your location. Once they arrive explain the situation to them explaining that it is a hit and run and that you can identify the person in question and have them wait until they return from their shopping (probably walmart) once they return enjoy the look on their face when he begins to reach for his cuffs.

At school, it is even worse. Like the time I saw a girl put her handbag on MY car's hood once she parked hers next to mine so I yelled from across the parking lot asking what do you think you are doing and she just looked at me, shrugged, and walked off. At least it was my last car and the scratches polished out but still.

i don't understand how people don't get it. one time a few years back with my old car(93 ford probe, i was 17 and the car was my baby) there were some kids leaning on my car who i didn't even know. studded belt left little marks on the side, which did buff out but still. wtf, who the hell teaches people that its ok to touch cars in parking lots? If my friends had a 30k item, no matter what it is, i'd make damn sure to respect the hell out of it. (even if its a miata...) amidoingitrite?

man i missed this thread. but im with the OP and some others. I didnt yell the first time my brother put something on my car.
second time i was like Dude i said dont do that then when he put a cardboard box on the roof of my black gto and then dragged it to other side he scratched the car, i completely yelled at him. Now with the z, he put a bottle of water on the spoiler... i just walked up, grabbed it, threw it into the street. |

i react like this all the time...but i don't have a Z (yet). I have a 240sx and aside from the putting stuff on top of my car, to add to the disrespect, they like to SLAM the passenger door too. i understand my car is sweet 16, but the door doesn't need to be slammed! yes, my car looks like junk with peeling paint and all, but that doesn't mean that you can do whatever you like with it.

Shortly after I bought my TwinTurbo, I came out of a store to find a woman and her son (probably 7 or 8) approching the car beside me. The woman was glaring at my car as she walked up and I saw her shake her head. Her car was a piece of crap, not that it matters. Anyway, the boy opened the door and swung it into my door. Not hard but it made contact. She hadn't seen me yet and started to laugh... then caught me out of the corner of her eye, realized it was my car, smacked the kid in the head and said "watch what you are doing".
Kids are kids and do kid things, but she pissed me off! She thought it was funny that someone with a nicer car than hers was getting a door ding. Then, in her embarassment, took it out on her child. Fortunately there was no damage and I just scowled at her. Regardless of what kind of vehicle or what shape it is in, I would never damage or take pleasure in the damage of someone else's property. There is no telling how hard someone had to work to get what they have, period. I respect their property as I respect my own. It's that simple.

I'm pretty protective about my car... I hate when people get in my car and kick their feet all over the place and scuff up my panels. I have to refrain from yelling at the GF sometimes... she is probably the worst.
If you want to solve your problem, don't bring your car tailgating. :-x |

most people don't give a fk about cars.. its a method of transportation.. other people will give you the stinkeye if you walk too close to their car..
my advice would be to get new friends.. preferably ones that are car people.

Trust me if you get the right one they will. I know I will treat it as such as a Military Policeman in the USMC and I know alot of my buddies on the civilian side does the same thing because we take care of our cars and feel that people should respect others property no matter how minor it may be. Granted we wold not haul them off to jail for this type of infraction but it will make them worry, alot and it is fun from my end just knowing that they cannot go through life pissing on others. but Just look at the evidence, you had contact between two vehicles which left visual damage, one driver left the scene without exchanging information, in any state your in that is leaving the scene of an accident. at minimum you get the insurance payment to fix your door and their rates increase.
