I like to look at all makes of cars for the price range that I'm looking at. I go with the one that is overall best for me in that price range. Last year, it was a 2010 Maxima and this year it was a 2009 370Z. I'm not exactly Nissan loyal (although I have owned only Nissans), but they are usually the best option IMO. If my price range had been $10k higher for my current car, I would have been in a used Cayman for sure. For my next car I'm planning to stick with Nissan with a GT-R, but a used Gallardo LP 560 would also be tempting 5 years down the road. :)

You can get an 04 Gallardo (7 yrs old) right now for around the same as a new GT-R, so I figure by 2016 the 09 LP 560 should be around the same price. I haz big dreamz and hopefully will have big paycheckz soon too :p

I agree. I am a car whore. I'm superficial and get excited by looks and promises of what's under the skirt...I mean hood!:icon17:

wouldnt say im a nissan guy, wouldnt say im a any particular type of car guy, BUT i would say (like a few have stated before me) im officially a Z guy

First car was a 2008 hyundai Accent, traded it on my 2011 Matallic gun Silver Base 370z, gave me 6,500 for it, ontop of putting 12,000 down

couldnt be happier with her.... im a Z guy now for life....funny how 3 months ago i didnt know a thing about the Z, didnt know what it was, nothing. All it took was that first glimpse and a want.... and BAM! Shes in my garage 4 months later.... =)

I see you're from MD. Do you know about the weekly Starbucks meets we have in MD/VA? If not, then check this thread out for more info. So should come hang with us some day :tup:

Grew up with Toyota Corollas and later RX-7s. However one of my first cars was a Datsun B210, but always like the Zs and its heritage.

Had a 300ZX, 350Z and now the 370Z.

that be pretty neat =) only problem with saturdays is i work 430 am till 3pm which sucks!... it would be neat to meet and greet other Z fanatics, theres only 2 Z's in all of the Northeast Area (that ive seen) ....Mine being one of them, and the other...a 75 year old father. so the meets for me, pretty much non-exist =(:bs:

IM a lot like you, only replace Toyota with Mitsubishi, and I skipped that crappy 350z phase nissan went through :stirthepot:

We are having a meet to watch the movie Fast Five together two weeks from today, you might be able to make that one depending on how far you are from Fairfax. Check this thread out for more info:

I'm human!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hello:

MightyBobo 04-18-2011 02:25 AM

I tend to lean twords GM (coming from a mostly GM family) - Camaro's, specifically. Right now though, all they have that perks my interest is the Corvette. In the end, I'll buy just about anything except for a Ford. Doesnt mean I don't respect them, but I would never own one I don't think.

Sylvan Lake V 04-18-2011 02:53 AM

Hard core Nissan lover here! My first one was a 87 Pulsar, I am on my 4th Titan my wife drives an Altima SE-R and my baby is a twin turbo G35.

Montez 04-18-2011 06:57 PM

Like Nissan alot, mainly the Z and the Max although.
Current 09 370z sport and 03 Max SE
Past: 08 Max SE totalled, 06 350Z traded, 03 350Z stolen, 99 Max SE limited traded, 96 300ZX traded, 92 Max GXE sold, 87 Max GXE traded. Other family members have had and have 240Z's, 280ZX's, 300ZX's Maxima's and G's.

sonic370 04-18-2011 07:30 PM

I'm a car guy. I buy what turns my head. It's all about how the car looks.
oh and the power of course. through the years iv'e had quite a few.

but if i had to narrow it down it would be any z after 2004.......
and any vette after 1997......

drivin blind 04-19-2011 09:43 AM

Not really brand loyal either. The "Z" really caught my wife's eye when we were in Florida. I'd promised her for our 35th anniversary, I'd buy her a sports car and we'd run Route "66". The "Z" fit the bill. We would have bought a Nismo, except no black cherry.(wife's car and she was adament about color.) I've been running Subaru's for the last 9 years, as I need something for the Michigan winters. (She has a Grand Cherokee she drives in the winter!) RP

TheGreatOne 04-19-2011 11:57 AM

I am definitely a Japanese car kinda guy.

Went from:

- Honda
- Mitsubishi

to

- Nissan

Mother in-law has a Rogue, sis has a Versa dad has an Altima so just need my mom to get on board...her Camry is on its last legs lol. Wife loves BMW, nothing in the line up of Nissan for her

Some Domestic/North American cars have been looking better to me, but I think If I didn't go Japanese, I'd be all over German (BMW or Audi)

TypeOne 04-19-2011 02:53 PM

I'm totally brand bias...

45% Honda/Acura
35% Nissan
15% Subaru
5% Everything else except Mazda or a DSM.

I will always own a Honda or Acura... reliable, cheap to fix and they have great engines. Nissans are nice as well, their reliability is coming up and the quality is greatly improved from the early 2000s. Subarus are quality like Honda and they hold resale value.

Mitsubishi and Mazda is garbage IMO. :-/

On a side note, I looked through this months issue of Motor Trend Magazine and there is NOT ONE picture or mention of a Mitsubishi... not even in an add. I think that says a lot.

Mergnthwirker 04-20-2011 07:16 AM

Nissan is on my list of "acceptable" brands, unlike Toyota or Chevrolet. Over the years I have owned 3 Nissans. I like the brand but don't love it. But I do love my Z!

My brand count favors Audi, but I'm not very fond of most of the new ones (overweight, overpriced, and fewer and fewer clutches). But my next new car will probably be another Audi S4 to replace my current one when I finally wear it out. Most of my cars I've driven into the ground, with average mileage when I sold them around 150,000 miles.

* 7 Audis (2 '01 S4 Avants, '92 Ur-S4, '05 TT, '01 TT, '99 A4, '80 5000 diesel)
* 3 Nissans ('09 Z, '91 SE-R, '84 Maxima)
* 3 Fords ('91 SHO, '89 SHO, '64 F150)
* 3 Saabs ('05 Aero wagon, '95 Convertible, '74 Saab 99)
* 3 Mercedes ('01 320SLK 6spd, '59 220SE, '65 250SE Coupe)
* 2 Mazda's ('05 RX-8, '94 Miata)
* 1 Honda ('83 Prelude = my first brand new car)
* 1 Alfa Romeo ('61 Giulietta Spider owned for 23 years)
* 1 Lancia ('64 Fulvia)
* 1 MG ('67 MGB-GT)
* 1 Volvo ('65 P1800)
* 1 Volkswagen ('73 Karman Ghia)

The majority of vehicles I've owned were fun to drive, and I've had a lot of smaller-engined sports cars over the years. Oh, and every one of these cars was a stick!!

obito 08-25-2012 04:32 PM

I'm not a brand royal, but I hate some brand royal head. Even I like Z but it doesnt matter Z is better than the others.

Gauge 08-25-2012 07:26 PM

Z guy, have yet to commit to being a nissan guy. Need to go for a test drive in the maxima/altima before I can commit to that.

sonic370 08-25-2012 09:17 PM

I've owned 4 or 5 nissan's through the years but wouldn't consider myself a nissan guy. i really wasn't a Z guy until 2005 when i bought my first 350
i knew nothing about the car or it's history. of course i had heard about them
but really didn't care. one day i was driving by my local dealership in my 97
c5 corvette with 87,00 miles on it which was beginning to nickel and dime me to death just looking around and there it set an 06 roadster. not bad i thought.

one test drive later and i drove it home and have been hooked ever since.

and my 370 sealed the deal... money well spent...
like i have said before on here the only other sports car i will buy again will be a
used c6. either car bang for your buck best in class.... sorry to ramble got of
subject................:ughdance:

dmhenderson 08-25-2012 09:20 PM

I've owned:
-1983 Pontiac 6000LE out of highschool. Cracked hoses belched coolant onto the engine block resulting into giant clouds of grey smoke billowing from under the hood. Also had massive thermostat problems where you had to drive it around with the heat on full blast in the summer to keep it from overheating.

-1994 Toyota Camry LE. Complete warranty engine replacement, paid for a new transmission (apparently, they used the same tranny in the 6c as the 4c o_O) and eventually threw in the towel when the 5th thermostat blew and damn near cracked the block on it.

-2001 Nissan Sentra. Ran forever. Crappy little car but man I beat the everloving **** out of it and it just kept going. Really needed it to do what it did at that point in my life.

-2006 Nissan Altima coupe. Fast but not fast enough.

-2009 Nissan 370z (Base). Modded a little, cut my teeth and decided i needed more which led to...

-2012 Nissan 370z (Nismo)

Think I'm stuck on nissan. My uncle owned a 240z when I was growing up and called it his "Z car". My dad almost got in a fist fight with my dad when my brother and I hit it with a baseball which in retrospect, I kinda understand now. Was in awe of that car as a kid and I guess it just stuck.

Wasn't crazy about the 350 because there just wasn't enough juice there and was actually getting ready to buy a Z06 in '09 but then the 370 came along and I bought that plus a condo instead.

dmhenderson 08-25-2012 09:25 PM

Own a bunch of nissan clothing which I intentionally wear out in public on occasion.

My office at work is covered in nismo stuff.

Xplicit97 08-25-2012 09:26 PM

My first "new" vehicle was a 98 Nissan 200SX when I was 19. It had a few basic mods sold that and bought a 98 Gsr ( mods were cheaper and more plentiful than Nissan at the time) then I bought a 03 silverado. Got outta the Air Force and bought a 89 240SX and went crazy with that. bought a 2010Altima 2.5 coupe a couple years later, and traded my Altima for my Z. Sold the 240 after buying the Z since it couldn't compete. So now I have the Z and my 86 K5.. but I would say I'm pretty loyal to Nissan for cars, they just seem to be more performance oriented and fun to drive

Srenity 08-25-2012 09:38 PM

I would consider myself a Nissan Guy but I would be willing to buy almost any brand if the car fit what I was looking for.

I have owned:

4 Nissan's (3 sports cars, and 1 truck)
4 Fords's (2 sports cars, 1 truck, and one ecomomy car)

I have considered and looked at without buying:

BMW, Hyundia, Porche, Audi

Did the greatness of the 370z make you come to love all that is Nissan? :tiphat:

nissan is always probably going to be my fave, since my first car was a Sentra and I've had 7 Z cars, but I don't exclude or hate any other brands.

forza370z 08-25-2012 10:28 PM

I love my Z. I've owned 4 Nissan/Infiniti cars/suvs and I love them all. But I don't commit to Nissan only.

IDZRVIT 08-26-2012 10:05 AM

Vette guy. They just go faster.

srbrubak 08-26-2012 11:15 AM

Any car is good for me. I have bought used and most of them were bought from friends, coworkers or family. Bought an 83 Nissan Stanza new and it was the biggest lemon I have ever owned. Bought an 05 Altima 3.5 SE new. I needed a four door family car and the Altima had what I wanted. It had the most HP and came with a 5 speed auto while all the others only had 4 speed autos. My Altima has been very trouble free. I bought my 2010 Z because I never owned a sports car. It isn't the fastest, but you don't see many where I live. I wanted something that not everyone owned.

brucelidat 08-26-2012 12:40 PM

Not particularly brand loyal, but Nissan might get a first glance before some others just because I liked my 07 Altima 3.5 se and now my Z. If Hondas hadn't all gotten so soft and bland, they might be battling Nisan, but they have so that leaves Nissan as the Japanese dependability + some fun brand. Ford is going in the right direction, though and if I was to get a second practical car, the Focus would be high on my list. Not a fan German cars because of the high repair bills and that most of them are luxury makes and the premium you pay is often as much or more for badge than added value.

Joepro 08-26-2012 01:25 PM

I consider myself an import car guy:

1988 pontiac Gran Prix(rolled it, ice ditch, over)
1987 Fc3s
1987 Honda Accord
1999 Honda Accord
1995 Honda Civic(current beater)
2003 350z(been trying to sell it for 3 months now so I can get a 370)

Btw I work for Honda... Quality is higher than Nissan, but Nissan is not bad in compassion to some of the others.

Pintsize725 08-26-2012 01:59 PM

Just a car girl. Had two Hondas in the family previously. Owned an Infiniti prior to the Z and current family garage is a 350 and 370. But I definitely wouldn't shun some old school American muscle or any exotics. :p

KingJoseph 08-26-2012 04:26 PM

I never would've thought myself to be a Nissan guy or even a Z guy... but I had an '04 350Z roadster and recently traded it in for a '12 370Z Nismo. I guess maybe I'm in denial. :)

That said, if the rumors are true that the Z's performance will be "dumbed down" to appeal to the masses for the next gen... then my patronage will end with this one.

nmjaxx9 08-26-2012 08:07 PM

my whole family lives/breathes nissan/infiniti so it was only right. :tup:
