Storing your Z

Hi guys,

So at the end of June i'll be deploying for 6 months. My Z will be in my garage. I was merely gonna add some gas stabilizer. and have my girlfriend start it once a week and let it run for about 10 min. And watch tire pressure ect. Anyone have any tips on some other potential things to do?? and watch out for?

thanks

1) tires should be moved about to prevent issues

2) security cam should be installed in the garage. How can she resist a little whirl now and then?

Easy! she cant drive a stick.. the first time i let her try in an empty parking lot she ended up crying and me laughing at her so shes scared for life

no, dont start the car every week. just put the car on battery manager (there's already quite abit of thread on this) and have her start once in 3 months.

psi up your tires as posted in the other threads.

btw, GL with your mission. :)

you could even just take the wheels off?

kenchan 04-08-2011 11:34 AM

you could even rent out the car and make money.

another thing that should be kept in mind is to keep a full tank of gas

you dont want any rust to develop inside the gas tank because of the exposed metal...even though its sealed, theres a little bit of risk of it

it happened to me in my RX7 FD...i left it for about 6 months as i had the motor out and was building the car with an empty gas tank, rust developed inside the tank and it clogged up the fuel filter...i ended up having to put in a new tank to be safe!!

6 months really is not that long in the grand scheme of things. even gas stabol wouldnt be necessary. you can if it will help you sleep better. being in florida.. temps wont be getting down enough to hurt your tires too much, but then again, 6 months isnt long.

when i deployed, i simply put the batt on a tender and told my buddy whos garage it was being kept in not to touch it. start it or anything. ive heard once every few months is good tho. once a week isnt necessary. I got back and car was perfect. and this was in wyo in the winter. the cold caused flatspots on the tires that worked themselves out in about 3 miles once i got her back on the road.

hope this helps and have a good safe deployment! :usa:

Fuel Stabilizer
Tyres at 50psi to avoid flat spots
Battery Tender or similar device plugged in

On the tender, don't start it. Won't do much good...
