Any guestimates on performance?
0-60 MPH?
1/4 Mile? Top Speed? Skidpad? Here's mine: 0-60 MPH = 4.9 secs 1/4 Mile = 13.6 secs Top Speed = 155 mph (governed) Skidpad? 0.92g |
i'll take a swing at it, not too much different than yours as i think your right on the $
0-60 5.0 1/4 13.5 @ 109mph Top Speed 160 (Limited) Skid: .94 |
My guess....
0-60 MPH = 4.7 1/4 Mile = 13.1 @ 108 Top speed = Around 165 mph Skidpad = 0.94 |
^ thats pretty stout. if it does that its gonna kill eveything near that price range.

I think your numbers may be a bit too optimistic, especially that 1/4 mile number. Nissan said that the 370z's main competitor is the Porsche Cayman S. The 2009 Cayman S now has 320HP vs 295HP for 08'. Porsche claims a 0-60 in about 4.9 secs. So I highly doubt the 370z will best it by two-tenths to 60 mph. |
0-60MPH - 4.8sec (I've seen that number for both the Cayman S and M Coupe, all three cars have almost the exact same power/weight... I know, I know, I'm not taking gearing into account - bad me :icon17: )
1/4 mile - mid 13s @ mid 100s (Yes, I'm hedging, the quarter just never really did it for me as a performance metric) Skidpad - .93g Slalom - 71.5MPH Ring Time - 8min 10sec S. |
My Guesstimate
0-60 MPH = 5.3 1/4 Mile = 13.5 @ 107 Top speed = Around 168 mph Skidpad = 0.94 " Dont drive faster than your guardian angel can fly " Cheers Michael |
I was just going by the estimated hp/weight ratio. The cayman s has a hp/weight ratio of 10.5. Motortrend achieved a 0-60 time of 4.8 and 13.3 quarter mile at 105 mph in this car.
We know the 370z is going to have 332hp. We also know that the 370z is going to weigh 95lbs less than the 350z. The 350z weighs 3,339 lbs so subtract 95 off of that and we get 3,244 lbs. 3,244 divided by 332 is 9.7. So 9.7 is clearly better than 10.5 so that is how I came up with my estimates. Also, keep in mind porsche says 4.9 so that when the mags run times of 4.7 it will make them look better. I think the ring time we be somewhere in between 8:10-8:20. Slalom of 71.X seems reasonable. |

Actually I might have to revise my expectations for the 370Z. Motor Trend tested a 2009 G37 sedan 7 speed auto at 0-60 in 5.0 seconds flat and the 1/4 mile at 13.5 seconds at 105.3 mph.
2009 Infiniti G37 S - Testing the 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan - Motor Trend The 370Z is quite a bit lighter than a G sedan and has the same engine so seeing a 4.7 second 0-60 run doesn't seem overly optimistic now after reading the above article. |
OT: Dude, you guys should read in that Camaro thread where they're using Pearl Harbor as a sound reason not to buy a Japanese car!? I've never heard something so retarded in my life!!!! For that matter I guess because Henry Ford (as I'm sure many of those involved in the establishment of the Detroit Big 3 were - it was just too common) was racist towards blacks means I should never buy a Ford (or any other domestic) because a good portion of my ancestors were/are black?? How retarded.

I think the numbers will be close to the G37-S coupe. But since Z is lighter it'll be a a little faster. Anyone have the specs for the 2008 G37 coupe?
|
The G37 coupe is about 100 lbs heavier than the G35/G37 sedan; hard to believe but true because the coupe's larger doors require more reinforcement to achieve a high side-impact crash rating.
( 2008 Infiniti G37 Sport - Road Test/2008 New Car Reviews/Car Shopping/Hot Lists/Reviews/Car and Driver - Car And Driver ). G37 coupe's 0-60 times and 1/4 times are pretty much identical to the 07/08 G35 sedan times. The 09 G37 sedan is faster than the G37 coupe. It will be interesting to see what kind of specs Nissan releases for the 370Z and then also what kind of results all the mags get when they test it... |

Just so I am not completely off topic, the 370Z has a power to weight ratio of what 9.6 or 9.7?? With those numbers the car should be able to pull off a 4.7-4.8 second 0-60 run and I'm thinking low 13's in the 1/4 mile. I am more concerned with its track manners, but flatout speed is always fun too. Mark PS: Looking forward to hopefully more mature conversation than with the Camaro folks. |
