Radar Hardwire - some advice pls!

I just got my rx65 in the other day and am trying to hardwire the damn thing. For now, i was going to keep it positioned low, right above the gauges. I cant seem to hide the wire correctly. Also, i had a good idea for the SmartPlug location. Ill take pics soon.

I might need some advice or ideas on how to run/hide these wires. I cannot seem to hide the wire between the windsheild and dash and through the A-pillar.

thanks for jacking the thread Spammer.... you are a burden on your mother and may you burn in hell!

anyways....
here are a few pics of what i wanted to do.

I was going to use some velcro to mount the smartplug to the side of the knee pad. It seems to be a good location, right by the gear shift. Im still trying to figure out how to hide the wires.... any ideas?

Also, i cannot find a way through or around the a pillar without the wires showing... again, any ideas?

(9500ix is similar to your rx-65)

im still using the coil wire from V1 and placed the detector on the right hand side of the cluster. the coil wire is hardwired though to the fuse box through the V1 adapter. :)

i should still have a few picts in my albums somewhere if you're interested.

I just took some pics and attached them. Maybe now this will make more sense.

jay- you ever figure out the fuse box issue you posted? not sure why you're having issues with the add-a-circuit.

I need to do that install with my V1. It looks so clean.

i was going to wait to spend the $$$ on a radar mount. Especially one that expensive.

Anyone have experience removing the a pillar?

carefully pull...its not very hard ;)

i actually was able to tuck mine into the a-pillar, completely out of sight without having to remove it. although i did remove it when i installed my GPS antenna

i still think this is the cleanest look though...the pics you posted dont flow well with the interior:

why do you need to remove the a-pillar?

if you're feeding the cord to the ceiling, just push the cord into the a-pillar nook with a squeegee. no need to remove anything. :)

Astrosfan 03-31-2011 01:30 PM

how did you remove it? was there any other pieces that had to be removed before the pillar?

I like the switch mount in your pic, but when everything is all said and done you would not be able to see the wires and it would be positioned pretty well (my mounting location).

If i ended up not liking this mount, i could always try the dummy switch mount.

Im actually trying to mount it right above the pods, so it will be low on the windshield.

astro- try to see if you can still push the cord in there without removing the a-pillar cover. i think it's doable...
