2 seats really that bad?

Hey guys, long time lurker but I'm deciding on a new car for myself and yes i know you've prob read this like a million times but im torn between the 335i e92 and the 370z. As of now, I really like the 370z and I feel like it will be a sportier car. My only problem and the only reason I'm not jumping on the 370z is the fact that it has 2 seats. Now I have a friend who has a 350z and says its a pain and keeps telling me to get the 335i but what does he know ( got 18 inch time attacks with no drop and a stock bumper and doesn't plan on modding anymore <- lol). Yea I know it's based on my personal life but I'm asking the general public if it's worth passing over the 370z because it's limited to 2 seats. Most of the times, I just drive my girl around but I mean i'm in college and 2+ ppl in my car is pretty common at times. How do you guys cope with the 2 seats?

import111 04-10-2009 01:32 AM

So far it has not been an issue for me. If more than 1 person wants to go where I am going they better use their own car, or curl up in the hatch, lol.

crbn_fbr 04-10-2009 02:38 AM

Hey it gets you out of bein the driver to ride with them, less gas money you spend! You have to look at the positives here! Oh and you asked how I cope, I kept my old four door wrx hehe

threefiddy 04-10-2009 02:50 AM

Ah man I'm already getting depressed lol cuz I LOVE to drive around and with the 370z I'm prob going to lock myself in the car for a couple of days. Also being a college student, having another car on top of the 370z is pretty much outta the question. Gas isn't really an issue since I have a gas card. I was lookin at a g37 but damn..that's one ugly car. Ruined the 35 lineage.

crbn_fbr 04-10-2009 02:59 AM

originally with me if i only had one car and it was just a two seater, it might be a no for me. or so i thought. but i think i changed my mind on that. after getting the z, and if i didnt keep my four door, i still would have done it. like import111 said if you have more than one passenger, they had better find their own ride!

Forrest 04-10-2009 03:39 AM

Ok my 2 friends they both say i have a 2 seater car becuase i dont have any friends and they laugh that sh*t up like crazy.

But its so great when you are ruled out of any scenario of whos gonna drive us where and when becuase everybody knows you only have 2 seats. Nobody blames you for having a 2 seater car also.

Obviously i am gonna say get it and forget the other people, but im driving a z and im biased.

Asheth 04-10-2009 04:01 AM

I don't have my Z yet but I do have a 03 Eclipse Spyder and I am 6'1 so if somebody sits behind me I have to move the seat up and it looks like I am humping the steering wheel so I stopped doing it. When I think about most I ever have is 3 people in the car and most of the time only me and 1 other.

So backseats are good for extra storage I guess but buy the car for you not your friends. They arent gonna help you with payments.

Think of it as a bra: You can only fit two.

SiXK 04-10-2009 06:44 AM

I would get it. you are a college student, you don't need a back seat. later on when you get married just let your wife get a car with a back seat, thats what I do.

Whow ! I suggest for you the BMW.

When I purchased the car I didn't count the number of seats it had, I knew it came with 1 and that was more than sufficient.

But then again, I sure didn't buy the car to be concerned as to how much additional weight I could fit into it either.

ChrisSlicks 04-10-2009 09:25 AM

If your just into cruising around the 335i is a plenty nice car, and very peppy.

The 370Z is a sports car, a completely different animal. Sure some people are just going to buy it and cruise around but really this car is at it's happiest when it's being tossed into corners.

msl82 04-10-2009 09:49 AM

I am single, I used to have Acura Tsx and 98% of the time I never needed back seat. Now I have 370z, and I love every second of it.

And when I get married, I am keeping my Z as weekend car and use my wife's car for everyday/beater. LOL

3SeventyZ 04-10-2009 10:54 AM

I don't mind it at all.
Everyone I know drives so it doesn't really matter too much.
I kinda enjoy only having one seat tho.
Less people to drive around.

Forumite 04-10-2009 11:02 AM

I love the fact that mine only has 2 seats in it. Especially on Fridays when we go out to lunch at work, I'm no longer the one who has to drive everyone. :p

:icon18:Amen!!

I have to agree with everyone. i owned a 350Z since 2003, and now my 370Z. It is an issue with my friends and family that i have a 2 seater but never an Issue for me and my wife.

We are somewhat selfish and I have to say the love i have driving my Zs out weights everyone bitching because i can't drive them and their tribes around.

If we are going somewhere and someone insists on going in a group, let them drive. That just means you don't have to be DD.

Genius!

I've had many 2-seat cars, and it's never been an issue. In fact, when you have 4 seats, you find yourself having to drive your friends/coworkers around more. For example, 3 coworkers wanted to go to lunch yesterday, one says "who is going to drive." "Sorry guys, only got a 2-seater."

The backseat does come in handy for storage. Take a briefcase for example. Too small to go in the hatch, because it will just slide all around. Doesn't really fit well behind the seats, because of the new shelf they put in the 370. Not too handy, that's for sure. A backseat would be perfect for something like that.

Lug 04-10-2009 11:52 AM

Get the Nismo 370Z instead. I assume with how much extra it's gonna cost, they gotta squeeze in extra seats! Right?

chrisw169 04-10-2009 11:59 AM

I would definitely buy the Z!!! I currently drive a Del Sol and I have no issues with only 2 seats. Also you are in college and dont have to worry about a family or anything. Get the z, you have a spot for you and a spot for your girl. Besides the looks and power of the z, it should be a no brainer, this is by far the best one they have made yet...

axio 04-10-2009 12:09 PM

I'm also agreeing with everyone. My wife is actually pregnant and what did I do? I bought a 370z

That being said, we do have an Accord (coupe) and a Prelude, so the baby can sit in those cars. But honestly, having 2 seats is not a bad thing at all.

Anatoray 04-10-2009 12:37 PM

I have to say, you get the car for yourself/your family. If two seats is all you need on a day to day basis, then there is no problem. So what if you can't drive around more than one person at a moment's notice? Last time I checked, it was THEM that needed a ride, not you. You're not the one getting stranded :P

kailua 04-10-2009 01:19 PM

Get what you want. Your not providing a taxi service for all the mooches that want a ride. Plus, no one ever asks you to help them move or borrow your car to go pick up the frig from costco or transport all those fat-fvck b1atches at work for lunchtime.

Plus, if you ever go out on the weekends, you can always drive by yourself and meet your friends at the bar or club and leave whenever you want to. You don't have to be held hostage to a group of drunk bastards that want to stay until the bitter end to pick up some drunk whores. You can pick up your own drunk whore and leave. If you got something more practical, then you'll be the one driving all the drunk bastards to and from the bar. Not worth the time or the smells. :D

armensti 04-10-2009 02:13 PM

having a two seater gets you out of being the driver for others so its not as bad as you think. it has its bad sides and good sides and for me the good sides are more then the bad side so i went and got it.

If i have to drive my lazy a## friends around this is what i take[ATTACH]1473. I can fit 6 comfy. When my Z arrives they will have to fend for themselves.

IronChefCJP 04-10-2009 05:06 PM

I'm coming from an RSX and the seats in the back aren't too hot. I hardly bring anyone, and when I do, people hardly ever want to get back into it.

I do like that the seats fold down for more storage space.

If your friends complain a lot about driving, especially on the days you go out, just drive your car to their house, they drive to destination, and if you're DD you drive home, and pick up z.
