Awd?

I was thinking about how closely the g series and z series have bin. '09 G37 is coming out with an awd version. Do you think threre will be an AWD version of the 370Z in our future?

Since they are sister cars, I can def see this coming. When they put their time into developing something for one car, they wouldn't mind using it for the other. But there is no info on this. Gotta wait a little more to get more info on it.

IDK. If they did something like that, wouldn't it be easier to spend ~40K for a awd 370z, then take it to GTM, Forged, Injected... for FI and forgo the GTR 80-110K sticker (not to mention the 7K brake job, 10K transmission, no VDC off, etc)?

Won't happen. Here are the reasons; First off, the Z is a dedicated sports car that serves as a halo model for the brand next to the GTR. Any dedicated sports car does not have AWD. The Z is a purist sports car and must have and only have RWD. Secondly, as somewhat alluded to earlier is the issue of price. Add AWD to the Z and you're looking at a car that starts in the $40's.

if you want a awd car get the g37 awd... simple as that!

Word, fellow gook.

SMJane_Again 11-20-2008 07:20 PM

Jeez, I hope not. The Z's never been awd, no reason to start now. I've said before in other threads how much a fan I am of light(er) weight and overall power/weight, and adding 200-ish lbs for an awd model won't do anything for the car. Not to mention, that's more weight in the front with the driven axle, center and potentially front diffs. Keep it well away from the GTR, Nissan. Please.

with AWD, that would be sooo cool for us Canadians with snow...lol

MC 11-21-2008 03:34 PM

my educated guess is no they will not offer an AWD Z

nogoodname 11-21-2008 03:40 PM

MC 11-21-2008 03:44 PM

i went to nissan dealer the other day and asked if they gonna make a awd 370z the sales person said no. because the infiniti has the awd g37... n' also he said he douts nissan will ever make one in the future.

blackdragon 11-22-2008 03:54 PM

its possible but probably not in the near future

FABG37 11-22-2008 04:09 PM

i doubt it, i would like nissan to make a 4cyl awd rally type car to compete with the evo and sti

RCZ 11-23-2008 10:21 PM

Thats not gonna happen, awd systems are more expensive, heavier, more complicated and harder to service. Not to mention they take away from the driving experience unless you have a really well setup car. Being the more sportsy car of the lineup, I doubt they will do something like that. If it aint broken, dont fix it :)
