nismo cold air intake comming soon?
so I was at chicago over the weekend and went back to dealership where i bought the car from for oil change and to pick up window sticker.
while i wait for service, i saw some brochures and on nismo brochure, it had R-tune cold air intake for 370z with "Coming soon". Will it be worth it for the wait? |
probably not.... unless you want the R-Tune sticker.
|
Not unless you want an overpriced, underperforming intake.
|
It's likely comparable to whats already out there. Not a long tube though, so you might as well keep the stock airbox and get drop-ins.
You can buy it now actually. 370Z Z34 COLD AIR INTAKE CAI DUAL NISMO R TUNE NEW Edit: Never mind, it's out of stock |
^Love the intake description:
"Stopping power that can take the heat.Semi-metallic, low-dust compoundHeat range: ambient temperature to 600º/700º FQuiet, rotor-friendly compoundGreater braking torque and pad life..." Nothing like an intake with 600-700F ambient temps and rotor friendly compounds. |

... anyway, fitment is frequently a problem especially if the intakes were made originally for the G37's. :icon14: they seem very similar, yet very different for the sheilds. |
later 350'z had dual intakes. VHR motor I think?
|
I dont get why Nissan does this, put out performance parts that underperform relative to the competition at a premium cost. I feel like more people would be inclined to purchase the very expensive Nismo performance parts (to keep their cars 'Nissan') if they were at least comparable in the gains they put out.
I guess Nissan just isnt in the business of performance parts, but isnt Nismo? Do other car companies do the same? |

but you keep the full factory warranty with the Dinan system Nissan does it for the people who freak out about mods that their warranty wont be honored. Its kinda dumb but if people will pay, why not do it |

The 350z HR version was not drawing cold air from a vent it is just like the JWT Popcharger in that it draws air from the engine bay.
My Nismo CAI draws cold air from an opening in the grille area of the bumper which has much cleaner and colder air. Hopefully the 370z version would be the same! |
R tune parts are for off-road use and don't come with warranty. I'm pretty sure the intake is a remanded 3rd party like injen. A guy posted a pic of the intake in another thread.
|
the 350z intake you guys posted before isn't made for the 370, it fits the 370 but the heatshields don't... so there's no point.
|
its was fail on the 350, i wouldnt see it any better here....but you never know
|
was about to buy the Cold Air Intake NISMO R-Tune Item # 16576-RND26 from the NISSAN dealership but then i read this thread.
so then which COLD intake do yall recommend that works best for my Nismo? |
They can't even spell "coming" right, so i wouldn't trust them.

Honestly, I would go with some drop-in filters and HPS tubes and call it a day. The stock intake works pretty well compared to short ram intakes. You'll have better gains with exhaust bolt-on's and an UpRev tune. |

i think imma rock the STILLEN Generation 3 Long Tube Dual Intake Kit and MAKE it fit! LOL! |

I had no idea my intake should be involved in stopping power. I'm going to look into a long tube intake from Brembo on the interweb now.... :icon17: |
