Default nismo cold air intake comming soon?

so I was at chicago over the weekend and went back to dealership where i bought the car from for oil change and to pick up window sticker.

while i wait for service, i saw some brochures and on nismo brochure, it had R-tune cold air intake for 370z with "Coming soon".
Will it be worth it for the wait?

Not unless you want an overpriced, underperforming intake.

It's likely comparable to whats already out there. Not a long tube though, so you might as well keep the stock airbox and get drop-ins.

You can buy it now actually.

Edit: Never mind, it's out of stock

^Love the intake description:
"Stopping power that can take the heat.Semi-metallic, low-dust compoundHeat range: ambient temperature to 600º/700º FQuiet, rotor-friendly compoundGreater braking torque and pad life..."

Nothing like an intake with 600-700F ambient temps and rotor friendly compounds.

It says it will work for the 370, but the heatshields won't fit. I don't know why anyone would spend that much on a part you had to modify.

i thought 350's had one intake tube like my G35C vs the 370's with two intake tubes.
... anyway, fitment is frequently a problem especially if the intakes were made originally for the G37's. they seem very similar, yet very different for the sheilds.

I dont get why Nissan does this, put out performance parts that underperform relative to the competition at a premium cost. I feel like more people would be inclined to purchase the very expensive Nismo performance parts (to keep their cars 'Nissan') if they were at least comparable in the gains they put out.

I guess Nissan just isnt in the business of performance parts, but isnt Nismo? Do other car companies do the same?

the same way Dinan charges $3000 for a BMW 335 engine tune that give about half what a $700 JB3 tune will give you

but you keep the full factory warranty with the Dinan system

Nissan does it for the people who freak out about mods that their warranty wont be honored.
Its kinda dumb but if people will pay, why not do it

Pretty much every manufacturer does the same thing.
