not sure wat you're doing wrong but are you hitting the actual opener's learn button(?) while you're programming your mirror?

it shouldn't be that hard to do...

Like ken said, you've got to get up on a ladder, find the learn button (you might have to take the lens off), press it, then press the HomeLink button on the Z, as described in the manual.

Some openers have a lock out I think. There might be a switch that needs disabling.

I found my garage door opener manual to be more helpful than the homelink instructions.

Good luck!

What I'm doing is pressing the garage door openers learning button it flashes red the I'm pressing one of the mirror buttons 3 times quickly like the owner manual states still not getting it to work. I will read the garage door's manual.
Thanks for the replay

Hmmm...I don't remember pressing the mirror button like that. I recall a solid press. I'm going to check the door opener manual now. Be right back!

make sure you clear out all previous codes first and try again. sometimes it takes two to three times to get it to work, just keep trying it will catch it sooner or later.

First clear any codes by holing the first and last buttons untill you get the slow blink.
Second, point the remote at the mirror and press the desired button on the mirror and hold the remote button down at the same time, hold untill the light flashes rapidly.
Third, now climb the ladder ,push the learn button the door opener, run to your car and press the programed button on the mirror ( you may have to press up to 3 times)
You now should be up and running or closing and opening)

Follow my instruction.

(if you have a remote)

1st: Erase the previous codes by pressing the two outter buttons for 20 seconds.
2nd: Hold the remote about 2 inches away from the button you want,, and press the button you want to program and the remote. The lights shoul start blinking slow then rapidly.
3rd: Your Homelink should be program.
4th: repeat steps if it does not work

W/O a remote
1st: Erase the previous codes by pressing the two outter buttons for 20 seconds.
2nd: Find your "SMART/Learn" button on your garage opener/motor.
3rd: You then have 30 second to get back to your car.
4th: Press the button you would want to chose 3 times, until your garage starts moving.
5th: repeat steps if it does not work.

Glad you got it to work. I used the learning feature on my garage door as follows. The first thing you need to is of course find the learn button and press it. The difference in what you have explained and how it works is that you then have the hold the button on the Homelink in the car UNTIL the garage door unit's light flashes three times. That is the comfirmation you code was accepted. Really that it.

From there on you shouldn't have any problems if you need to program another garage door opener in the future.

I had just as much trouble programming mine. I tried 4 times before it finally worked. After 2 attempts, it locked up and wouldn't reset or enter learning mode so I had to pull the fuse and re-insert it to reset it. Nice once you get it working though...
