Added a 5.0 to the kill list today(on a closed course of course) and I am gonna say wow, he must have been a bad driver to have lost twice... but I guess a kill is a kill...right?


P.S. I know there is no way that a 5.0 would lose to me if the driver was worth half a crap.

However, I have gotten a new car every year for my birthday....any my birthday just happens to be in 7 days.. DUN DUN DUN. no it won't happen, its nice to think about though.

Yeah, the first 5.0 I saw in person was m4a1's. It was :drool: but I still think the Z is more :yum:

Ford has always had this problem. I think the rims/tires from the new BOSS would be a good addition for every 5.0 out there.

The GT500 performance package forged wheels would be better. :tup:

That's the fun bit of it all. There are people that think they are hot sh!t just because of the tool, only to learn quickly that they have no idea how to use it effectively. Always cool for the "underdog" to win one. :tiphat:

That is a bad car. I have added the Explorer to my list of 3 row seater autos that I will be considering soon. I think I will tell the Ford dealer to let me drive a 5.0 so I can have some fun while I am at it. I will make another go at trying to get my dad to pick up a Boss..

I checked out a loaded Explorer in the showroom a couple weeks ago. NICE is all I can say. That car is plush as hell!

Ford's been stepping their game up significantly lately, I also heard rumors of a 350hp front wheel drive Focus will be coming out soon. Looks like the Z has yet, another competitor! Old article, but the new MT had a blurb about it.

Saw one of these in person that someone had brought over. Not a huge ford or focus fan but I was really in love with the car. Great look, great interior, and the green just made it pop. I heard that it was going to be AWD drive though.

they say in this months issue of MT that it'll be made to be fwd to save weight, although an awd version would be pretty sweet.

dont down play your win man...on a track, its a drivers race with an edge to 5.0 cause of the power...unless your talking about drag, in that case yes, musta been a shitty driver

I agree that it is a driver's race, but if the 5.0 driver does his job there is no contest. But believe me it's very easy to spin through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and on into 4th in a 5.0 on your way to a mid 13 second pass if you get overly aggressive with your launch. :icon17:

Drag races between similar cars are almost always won in the first 60'. Take the GT-R vs. ZR-1 drag races. The Corvette is the faster car, but the GT-R can launch like a bat out of hell. The 'Vette catches up to the GT-R by the end of the 1/4 mile but it's just not enough.

Interestingly, much like the Z, the quickest 5.0s seem to be the automatics. There are a number of documented 12.4 second bone-stock passes at 114+ mph... That would walk away from a 370 with ease.

Highway pull == drag. The mustang has even more of an advantage if it was from a roll.

Admittedly, VIR is a bit of a power track on full course, but that is still a far cry from a driver's race.

The full course actually has a lot of twisty tight sections. The original full course is a power track, but the Grand East configuration combines power with some really technical sections.
