Oh, right... you drive an Accent. You'll like it.

2. You're keeping your Accent for economical driving. Let's stop talking about fuel economy in the Z because those two concepts are an oxymoron for anyone other than those who can keep the revs below 3,000 and drive exactly the speed limit on extended highway runs.

3. Call your insurance agent to get an accurate quote on what insuring a Z would cost for you. Call a few other companies to price shop. There are many variables that determine what one person pays versus another.

4. Consider a pre-owned Z. If enough people who are concerned about fuel prices start dumping their gas-hogs, there should be some cars floating around that you can pick up at a good price and not take the depreciation hit.

5. Call your bank or credit union and see what you're approved for. Many financial institutions have online tools that can help you figure out what your monthly payment would be on the car you're thinking of purchasing.

ok, lets get this out of the way...... im pretty much deadset on THIS car, whether it be rthe touring version, or the base model... either way i feel that a Z is a Z no matter what in the car itself.

hows the shocks and handling on it? not sure if we covered it so im asking now...with heading in and around turns exc,..

There are a lot of discussion on this stuff all over the forum, and its going to differ from person to person. I find the ride great, road noise doesnt bother me even with stock exhaust. Everyone that rides in it is suprised by how roomy it is.

Do some searches on the site and you will get an idea of the issues and opinions have on the car.

i have a feeling the noise will not bother me either more so into the ride itself you know

The handling is so nice... the steering, once the car is moving, is so nice and tight - you just point it to where you want to go and it reacts. My other vehicle is a 2001 jeep grand cherokee and the handling on that thing is crazzzyyy compared to the Z. The Z just feels so rock solid and driver-centric.

The ride is pretty soft on the Nismo models. My girl had been using my 5 series before, and pretty much hates rough cars, and she really enjoys the Z.

yea i know that when my accent gets anywhere above say.....65-70 mph (on the highway) steering wheel starts shaking, and overall its just not a safe car... not only am i looking at this caar for looks and performance..but safety as well...the complete package for the money

Nismo89 03-15-2011 03:51 PM

alright everyone, right now just contacted 1 nissan dealership about their Z inventory and gave them a lil info on my situation.... so we'll see what they say....hopeful...

starting to rethink my approach to buying my Z.... now i wondering if i SHOULD trade my accent in, as well as put the money down for it (15,000) instead of going the more expensive road... and just have my Z? i dont drive that much as far as distance goes, so now after a few calls to dealerships, im considering it ...

help?

Geez, I don't don't know what to tell you without more information.
What's your debt to income ratio? What's an acceptable monthly payment for you?
Are you willing to be stranded when it snows in MD, or are you willing to invest in a set of snow tires? Are you okay with less-than-economical premium fuel consumption? Are you okay with the cost of insurance? Are you okay with tires that only last 15,000 miles give or take?

If your situation is as good as you paint it, there's no need to be "hopeful".
It's just a matter of finding the car you want at a price you're satisfied paying.

Weekly? Bi-weekly?
Do you pay rent or a mortgage, or do you live your parents? Do you have money stashed away in case you get a girl knocked up and need to address that situation?
Seriously, this online interview could go on forever.
To re-iterate my previous post, go to your financial institution, and get pre-approved. Call your insurance agent and get a quote on insuring the car or both cars. Go test drive some Z's and figure out what trim level you want. Decide on a car and buy it.
It's not that hard.

If you need more info about the car itself, there's plenty of threads on test drives, handling and other stuff such as the car's best feature, cabin noise.
If you need to know more about how to finance and insure a Z, go to the people that have the actual answers you're looking for specific to your situation.

Come back when you've done your homework and purchased a car.

Keep the Accent so the Z can stay home in bad weather.

Oh, and the ride is surprisingly comfortable. There are spots around here where there are continuous dips on some highway pavement and the Z starts to feel a bit like a cocktail shaker. But that would be the case with any car with a short wheelbase.

The steering feels heavy at first, but as you drive the car this perceptions changes more to "planted" and "compliant".

Also, check out the "True Cost to Own". You can find tools that tell you the true cost to owning the car. I think you can find one on Edmonds.com, but a google search will probably yield some useful results.
