Thank you to all the idiots....
Insurance discussion above. At that age its going to be expensive more than likely. At almost 32, I pay less for my 370, Z71, and R6 than some of the younger members were paying for just the car. |

dang..........im a safe driver by any and all aspects.... i mean just because a car has power and CAN go fast,... doesnt by any means mean you HAVE TO go fast, because it leads to this... these types of things.... and causes reprecussions on us safer drivers.
i get more than enough thrill by just driving down the road at a safe speed, and seeing people's mouths open than seeing nothing but a blur whiz by.... i feel this car can offer than to me but dang...for that? im paying for others stupid mistakes.... typo on the score thing, i meant high 750's to around 800 , but still doesnt take away the fact that what i read in the article posted.... has me slightly like "idk if i want to now" even tho this car is getting better and better with every bit of info im getting from you guys....
should i even bother get one? since im apparently TOO young to get a good rate with the insurance company, even tho, ive never had a tidcket, never had an accident, my credit score is through the roof good.... should i even bother now? its kinda disheartening...all because im 21..... rediculous if you ask me... dont really want to give up, especially on a car such as this, what do you guys think...high rates, just because im too young? is simply rediculous... doesnt even matter that im a good driver, never speed, never gotten a ticket.... oh no... "hes 21..... and wanting to get a sports car... he MUST want to blaze down the road and wreck...jack his insurance through the roof!" ... what are you younger owners seeing with it all? i see everyone of the people around me, with their souped up trucks... and cars (not none like the Z...coouldnt afford it) and what i see them doing? blazing down the road and the next few days .. i read in the newspaper..... "teen injured or killed in such and such crash, eye witnesses of the even say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it was involved in a serious accident" or something like that... if you want to speed down the road, go to the drag strip or track..and let it rip that way, but keep it there, not on the road, because your making the good drivers on the road...their rates sky rocket, because they are that age "So they must not be responsible enough to drive safe!..they'll speed and wreck ...they all do"
is there like an online chat thing i can use where i can ask questions with? with a agent or salesman about this car? ........ im almost dead set on this car now...... the only thing is the insurance rates for people my age.... now im asking the people my age diretcly.....(21 years) how are your rates, how much do you pay? are they reasonable for responsible drivers? |

I'm not sure what you consider good gas mileage but 26-28 is very optimistic. Driving from vegas to california several times I've only managed a best of 25mph one way. I typically average 22-23 on this trip. Again I don't drive 65mph in the slow lane putting around, I drove safely but at closer to 75-85mph or whatever flow of traffic is (average speed on this stretch of road is 80-90mph). Driving only in town you will get under 20mpg. This is not a good gas mileage car so if that is your concern don't look at performance cars. People who buy performance cars with gas mileage as a concern are typically disappointed in the long run.
As for weather, if you don't change the tires and keep the stock summer tires on the car it will not don't well at all in snow or ice. In rain the car is very traction limited and needs to be driven with caution. If you change the tires to all weather then things won't be as bad. I honestly hate driving my Z in the rain as it is very prone to slipping. You'll see me going from spirited driver in dry weather to paranoid old man (only 29 in reality) in the rain. The summer tires really aren't good unless it's dry out. Here in Vegas it barely rains so for me it's not worth buying a set of winter tires but consider it if you live in a place where you see a lot of rain, snow, or ice. Lastly, while I love my Z in a lot of ways our previous Vette was better in some aspects. Obviously it had far more power but while still having a V8 it would get 32+mpg at 80+mph. In rain it was far more stable. Insurance was also cheaper. Not trying to push the Vette but just saying the Z, while good in some aspects, does lose out compared to other sports cars in other areas. Thats why when other say the Z gets good gas mileage for a sports car I laugh. Why is it GM can design a car with a 400+hp V8 that can get over 30mpg while Nissan's V6 can barely get over 25mpg. Honestly, you need to go test drive the Z first off. Secondly if you are concerned with gas mileage and weather, etc the Z or performance coupes in general just may not be for you. It sounds like you have a mpg/all weather car with your elantra so the question becomes, why even worry about these questions with the Z? As you said it's your toy, so use it for that. Then again, I'm the type that doesn't bat an eye when I pay for gas and doesn't sweat it when I floor the car. A car is more than transportation for me |

The old saying applies, "you have to pay to play." No point bitching about it. If you really have to sit and see if you can afford it then you probably can't. |

Thats true but when I got my Z last year I was told by two different places that my credit score was 855 and 860. At the time I was focused more on the negotiation of my Z than my score (already new it was good) but it's interesting they would give me a number higher than the max. I know when I checked it on my own it was 847. Interesting.......

i CAN afford it, just (like every other reasonable person out there) is looking for the cheapest. not most expensive.... which is why i am asking
you would think that the better the driver's record and credit would be, as mine is and others on here... the more willing they would be to work with you reasonably instead of automatically "its a sports car, hes this old, its automatic, jack his rate sky high".....there has to be better reasoning....otherwise its exactly like a little child screaming and stomping their feet till they get what they want..
