It went over 140 because the seller told me straight up he was racing and went over 140 himself couple times. Yea for the oil change, he uses synthetic Mobil 1 every 3500. But yea thats the thing, he could be saying that...
But yea the owner seems pretty anal about the way his car looks so I'm thinking after just pushing it like that, he must otherwise treasure his car like crazy what do you guys think? |
There's no reason that reaching X speed in a car is bad for the engine. You could only drive 30mph and have an engine seize if there's no oil in the sump. More important is how the engine was maintained. If the owner regularly performed oil changes, allowed the engine to warm up before flogging it, etc etc then you're good to go.

I mean the wear and tear on an engine would still apply to any car. The more you push it, the faster it wears. But yea, I think he took pretty good care of it.
I just wanted to add that when he was telling me the perks of the car, he said that he drove the car to a point where the steering wheel was shaking, before he changed the brakes and tires. Would you say its a bad thing? Or it doesn't really matter as long as everything has been changed.... |

Have a mechanic look at the car if your'e serious about it. I think the seller is telling you too much!

if you are that concerned about it; i say walk away from it. why always have it in the back of your head that your car is 'damaged' or something. IF (big if) something goes wrong; your first thought will be bc this guy pushed it to xxx speed and such.
just my op. |
