The "pop" sound that you hear when you clutch in while in 1st is mostly due to the amount of load in the drivetrain... particularly when you're engine braking. I generally try not to do much in the way of any decel in 1st. If I'm coming to a stop I'll just coast out of gear. Also... you pretty much eliminate clunking between gears if you shift slowly. You don't need to be shifting quickly under normal conditions... just ease it out and ease it into gear. Let the RPMs drop to match up the next gear and it should be nice and smooth.

my car just hit 16,000 miles and it just started to do it.. I mean I thought it was something to do with me installing my coilovers but I guess its a natural thing after the car hits a certain amount of miles? It just started doing it last night.. I put the coilovers on weeks ago so.. not sure if its because of that? I have not aligned my car yet.. maybe that will fix it?

![]() ![]() Yeah, I have the same deal with 1st to 2nd gear and now... At 3200 miles, when the car is on and the clutch is out, there is this "faint" grind noise. When the clutch is engaged, there is no noise. I found another thread on clutch noises, but wasn't lead to believe it was what I am experiencing. Anyone else got this?

went to the dealer and they told me that the automatic transmission noise (clunck) is normal. I still do not feel good about it, but could it be the limited slip kicking in, since the clunck sometimes happens when the car is already enaged and slightly moving?
