If you had to do it over again, would you still buy the 370z??

The first thing I did this year was put on a set of Michelin AS +. The difference is night and day. I don't drive her that hard so do not notice any performance difference, but the ride is about 50% quieter, it's smooth as glass, and I don't need to fear road imperfections or expansion joints anymore. Now I'd probably get another....last year I would not have.
Amazing what a set of tires can do. Can completely change the character of a car.

I would absolutely buy a Z again. Totally love this car. A lot of people view it as a "jack of all trades" I completely disagree. I think it is a "perfect trifecta" of HP, handling, and braking.

basically, if you want a "better" sports car, you need to up your wager ~20 grand and move into low end Porsche range. In the OEM category, nothing short of a boxster/caymen can beat this car.

Let's look at some of the OEM competition in the same price range:

Mustang: More HP, worse handling, identical braking.
Charger/Challenger: More HP, worse braking, worse handling.
FRS: Less HP, Better handling?, worse braking.

You would be hard pressed to find an OEM car that performs better all around for <40K. The great thing is that if you want to put another 15K into this car i.e. 2-ways, exhaust, LSD, tires, tune, and brakes. There are very few things <60K that are a better car in the performance department.

I just posed the same question to myself but in a different way. do I want to keep my Z or do i find myself wanting something different. I had to figure this out before i started any mods.
I thought about a vette, but actually think the z is better looking. so why would i consider the vette to a z, power. the only thing i think the z could use more of, is power. its a perfect car otherwise in my opinion.
So the Z has a strong aftermarket support system and has a good base to start with so my choice was to begin to mod it. no regrets and with each new mod i feel like im getting a new car

Yes I would buy another Z. For my driver skills it is a great car for me. I don't know if I could ever extract ALL the performance capabilities out of this car. For me its the ideal car to cruise to work on sunny days and beat it on the track on the weekends.

A nice IS350 is just too expensive for the performance you get out of it. The transmission is just plain bad too. The paddles don't shift when you want them too. Out of all the comparable automatic cars I drove, nothing shifted like the Z, nothing handled like it, and nothing was as comfortable or as fun to drive. Winning package all around.

Also, it's super fun to mod. IS350 has like no performance mods available I believe.

Absolutely. While it doesn't excel at any one thing, it does everything well. When I was shopping I narrowed it down to vette and Z. I felt those were the best sports cars in my range. Ultimately I chose the Z because I could not get over the c6 vette's interior build quality (or lack thereof) for the price. The Z may be down in the hp wars, but it still holds its own given that its practically unchanged since 2009. Since the GTR, Nissan seems to have forgotten about the Z....shame really.

Well my coworker has a nice R/T Challenger. I think is pretty nice, white with black rims and black fender stripes.

He is all about American Muscle, but he told me that if he was into imports he would be down for the Z.

For the same money yes. If spending $20k more then I'd probably be driving a cayman s.

im not sure i like the cayman. i drove one a while back and it was a bumpy ride in my area. the intake and engine sounded good though. felt like the car was really breathing and all, like alive.

370Z > Cayman for me.

I love my 370Z. Fun to drive. Looks good. Makes me smile. The road noise and stiff ride have faded from my attention over time but the fun remains. Just got back from driving 2500 miles in 5 days, including through Deals Gap in the Appalachians and up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not very practical sometimes but so what.
