I was 17 at the time. No credit whatsoever and less than a year of driving, so that might have had something to do with it.

hm maybe it was an 80s model? geico seemed to have no issue with it.

My insurance dropped substantially when I turned 25. I got my license at 17 or 18 I think. Got it while living in TX.

Thats absolutley rediculous...we live in the same region, how old are you?

theres got to be something going on thats killing your rate, either that or you just went with your first quote

houkouonchi 03-04-2011 07:40 AM

I am on my dad's insurance (multi car discount) but I am the primary driver on my 370Z. Not sure if that is totally cosher to do since I don't live with my dad/have a different address.

I am 25 years old, and have had 2 speeding tickets over my driving life.

My insurance is $70.28/month or $421.68/6 months or $843.36/year. For some reason the insurance on my old car (2006 subaru impreza) is more by a few dollars? weird...

If you get a speeding ticket do the article 894. It costs more than the ticket would be it won't go on your record as long as you don't get another ticket within the next six months. This speeding ticket BS is all about the money and nothing else.

I just got a tint ticket for $13X for 20% (17% metered).

They stalked me and followed me as I left my gym.

Now THAT is some BS.

the first ticket was crossing hazard lines (and it 3 effing points) and i have another hearing for a 78 in a 45. which is total bs bc it was a motorcycle cop and he wasnt even on his bike and SOMEHOW he clocked me. I think he clocked the guy infront of me bc i know i wasnt doing no 78. maybe 60 at most. butttt im not jacking this thread to talk about my tickets lol.

KaienZ34 03-04-2011 08:44 AM

Yeah they're pretty F-ing mean when it comes to tint.

If the cop doesn't show up when you go to court you stand a good chance.

It comes with the territory of having illegal tint.

I could have only paid $142 a month if I didn't want accident forgiveness or free 3-year new car replacement.

Maybe you owe your local Allstate agent a phone call. State Farm is a good company, but so is Allstate, and they are a LOT cheaper on sports cars. I paid more for my old trans am with State Farm than I am this new Z06 with Allstate.

The rate for my daily driver (G20) was only a few bucks difference between Allstate and Statefarm, fwiw.

I called allstate yesterday, and for the exact same coverage that I would have with statefarm, they wanted $650 more every 6 months. I dont have any idea what allstate agent you found. I gues it is cause i live in New Orleans.

I found one who knows how to apply the discounts to maximum effect. She is the daughter of the guy who sold me my Z06 at the dealership.

wat2win 03-04-2011 09:31 AM

I pay 1126/6 month with progressive, 2 speeding ticket, not with z.
100k/300k, 500 deductible.
im 23 and live in snowy Indiana. Z is my DD

Cops get 3 tries to make it to court. They schedule all their court-appearances for that officer on one day. I would obviously lose the case, pay the fine AND court-cost, AND probably be forced to remove the tint under threat of further harassment.

I'll just pay the fine.

Traffic court varies from state to state. In my state, you're a fool if you don't go. The worst that will happen is that a judge will lower the fine by court cost, so you're no worse off. I've seen them decrease the number of points, give Probation Before Judgment, and throw the case out if the officer isn't there on the first appearance. Granted, if you reschedule your court date, the officer is allowed to miss.

My mom got a speeding ticket and rescheduled the court date. On the rescheduled date, the officer didn't show up so it was thrown out. How long do accidents/tickets stay on your record and affect your insurance? I have a ticket from 2.5 years ago and an accident last year.

roadfever 03-04-2011 10:40 AM

I'm with you Jeff. My insurance gave me the same BS last month. 23 years of driving with no moving violations and only two accidents and they raise my rates because of other idiots.

If you're going to raise my rates, do it because I'm an idiot, not because someone else is. :icon14:

yea, see.... no one's rates are going DOWN unless they just turned 25, or switched companies. When you take out all the other variables like age, location, carrier etc, you see that the rates on our cars have gone up.

now lets get back to talking about VDC and 300zx twin turbos. :bowrofl:

Im 21

i have a nice job on wall street...(just stating to avoid "parents pay for it comments")

my car payments (w/ insurance) are over $600 a month though :shakes head:

Inspector71 03-04-2011 02:39 PM

I pay about...

I pay about $800 a year for my Z but I'm over the hill (State Farm). I was beginning to wonder why, after purchasing my Z in late 2009, I have seen maybe one on the road in the Kansas City metro area. I have seen only a few 350s and one 370. They must all be at the body shops.

I live in long island, and ive only seen 4 since 2009

PapoZalsa 03-04-2011 02:46 PM

My insurance when up but was a combination of rates increased and other police related issues.

Plus December 2010 was not a good driving month for me...and I will leave it at that.

well my initial quote was 1200 and thats what i had been paying... so you can understand my frustration.... but, i have a lot of savings, worked full time for my last 2 years of college, i work in finance now and i live at home with my parents (i could move out, and i will once it affects my quality of life, but as of now it doesn't bother me at all) and no rent/mortgage helps me save a lot of money, even with the cars. I also put a lot down on my 370z, so the payment is very low.

as far as paying 1600 to be 22, thats why i'm not too upset.... can't take things for granted. Yea, Insurance wants to penalize me because i'm a 22 year old single male driving a sports car... but hey, i'm a 22 year old single male driving a sports car... and that's not a bad place to be. i'll pay high premiums for the next 2 years (i turn 23 in about 3 weeks) and then i'll join the ranks of you low insurance premium having old men :p

zero 03-04-2011 02:55 PM

No need to defend yourself. Everyone's situation is different. Also, have you seen how much rent/houses cost on LI. Most people's salary will barely cover it after general expenses. Not to mention the insane taxes compared to the rest of the country. This crappy economy doesn't help either.
