What I'm saying is there is NO COMPARISON just in the numbers except just that. But the numbers mean nothing without the coverage included. Do you want cheap insurance? Then that means state BARE MINIMUM requirements. That means if you hit a building or a home or damage property (signs, telephone poles etc) your insurance company might pay say 5-10k and then YOU are responsible for the rest. Same goes for injuries incurred by you, your passengers and the other party (regardless of fault). These are the "limits" you can play with when getting insurance and they will drive the price up or down. Other extras like rental car, accident forgiveness sometimes come at a cost too. The whole game with insurance is picking the coverage that makes you feel comfortable. I know me personally, I dont feel comfortable with bare minimum and I feel better knowing that I will be covered well god forbid something happened to me or my passengers. State minimum might be OK for some people but some people might have better piece of mind knowing they wont lose everything in the event of a terrible accident. I've only got four pages, change your settings. Only the OP and AK/Admin can lock/close the thread.

I think that the insurance carriers also consider your credit score and criminal history.
My wife and I have used Progressive for 11 years now and pay $540 / 6 months for an '09 Z and an '07 Trailblazer full coverage. We have excellent credit scores, no criminal history, live in a decent enough neighborhood and keep both vehicles locked up in the garage. We also pay the premiums up front and avoid the admin fees. |

No, that's not enough info.
Unless we know the details of your policy coverage (ie. I have "bodily injury/property damage" set at 100/300/100, which is as high as I could go) and vehicle coverages (deductibles, uninsured coverage, etc) it's pretty hard to compare. The info you and others are providing is a start, but it's hardly the entire picture. BTW, my agent recently told me zip code is also a huge factor in determining rates. I recently moved to a house 5 miles from my old apartment, and my rate went up $30 per month. Last edited by tettes; 03-03-2011 at 09:39 PM. |

Yes and no, really just trying to spice the thread up. Also serious if more realistic info would be helpful in comparing i'd be happy to get it.

How many miles a year do you drive each vehicle and where do you drive your vehicle to work? And which vehicle is the primary vehicle? Are they garaged? What is your comprehensive deductible? What is your collision deductible? What are your bodily injury liability, and property damage limits per accident, per person? How about your uninsured motorist coverage? And what are those limits? Every single penny we pay for insurance is the result of a formula. Actuaries make good money calculating the risks and pinning a dollar amount to everything But actually, the only good help the OP will get is responses from other people in his area. |

I have my 09 370z spt touring and wifey has a 11 Cooper S, we pay combined for 6 months 1771 for both cars. Im 27 and she is 28. It would be about 3-4 hundred cheaper if we still lived in central florida but upon moving to miami, no accidents, no changes in mileage or anything our rates jumped up. They go even higher if you move to within 3 miles of the coast, Im guessing because of the risk with hurricanes but I dont know.
