White or Red?
1 Attachment(s)
Trying to decide between white or red. I know it's a personal preference, but any thoughts would be welcomed. I have a black 335i right now, and I'm SICK of the maintenance.
Is red hard to take care of? I know the white would be really easy. Thanks. |
Have you seen them both in person?
I remember when I was picking colors for the 350 i was considering red until I saw it in person. It did zero for me. Now, I haven't seen red on 370 in person, so maybe that's changed. But I guess the moral of the story is you have to see em both up close and personal. |
I prefer red, I've never had a red car, so that is my choice and next color.
|
Red to me would require some blacked out tail lamps to give some contrast. There is like, nothing in the rear to break up the monotony.
|
I would go with white. :driving:

I would say it is the next toughest color to black. No joke! I love my redline 350z, but it is very tough to keep clean. IT is actually considered a dark color. I thought it would be easy, but no. Adding to the difficulty of keeping it clean is that the paint is flat - no metal flake - so every droplet of water, moisture, fingerprint etc just stands out because the metal flake does not mask it at all. It also shows light scratches a lot. If you want a color that is easy to take care of, white is great. i had a white CRX back in the day. Also easy are silver and Platinum graphite. Red is like having black - I own both black and red cars. Poor me trying to keep them all clean :shakes head: Having said that - I will be selling my redline 350z to buy a Solid Red 370. I like red... |

I went through the same thing with the exact two colors, i orderd red without even seeing the car in person. Seen 09 red about a week ago in person for the first time and all i can say is daaaaamn. Good luck with the hard decision.
|
If I didn't get blue, I would have gone red. Go red.

GET RED! people are scared to get red cars, but Red catches soo much attention good/bad but u just need to drive carefully. goodluck

What is up with red U-NVmyZ, your like the fourth person who mentioned something about that color. I've herd it's a cop magnet, my insurance would be more, that's not true i talked nto State-Farm friday.
|
i ordered yellow in jan has not come in yet...screw the yellow just picked up my white on fridy and love it...my 350 was blue:driving:
|
I was given the choice of white or red and I chose white. The red is pretty but I thought it was too attention getting if you know what I mean.
|
Go with red because it's got splash guards! :icon17:
My first choice was PG and 2nd was white. But I did a last minute change to Monterey blue. I love the white color. Quote:

I'm leaning a bit toward white just because I've developed a nervous tick whenever I even think of a swirl mark, or driving through water. Plus cops seem to like to have little chats with me a lot anyway. All I need is red car to get their attention even more. But then again, I want to add a louder exhaust, and maybe have some aftermarket rims, etc..., which all, to me, goes better w/ the red. Aaaarggh I'm so confused!! |
my 350 was red and it was hard to keep clean....
if i wouldn't have gotten white and would have seen a red in person w/sport package i would have gone red....just looks so sporty and exterior mods look hot on it. |
What color was the interior of the red one?
|
Ok, I checked their on-line inventory and the interior is black........whew. I ordered mine with grey interior and was going to be a little upset if my preordered car had come in and was out on the lot.
|
Red isnt going to be much easier to take care than black is, at least the red is flat and not metallic on the 370Z.
The white will also be a PITA if you get a scratch in it because of the metallic flake in it. |
hey32g,
Funny, I went through the red/black scenario when I ordered my 335i coupe. I was set for black until I saw a red/black with the gray poplar trim. I went with red. On the Z I had not seen a red one but had seen black/silver/yellow when I went to pick one up. When I saw the red I was glad I went with red. However, I have to admit the yellow was hard to pass up. |
^ I'll sound like the grumpy old man, but I miss the "old" yellow that came on the 50s.

I viewed a white one before I picked out the chicane yellow, if you dont think the pearl white is going to show swirls you're in for a BIG suprise. |
I had white on my G, while if you looked very hard for swirls, you could see them, nothing as bad as the many red vehicles I have owned (which were nothing as bad as the black vehicles I have owned :D)
|
If OP plans on dropping and throwing some bigger, chrome wheels on it I would go with the white.
I LOVE have pearl white looks with a nice large set of chrome wheels on it. I have both a 96 and 05 Mustang GT (both red), never had a problem with the swirls just always looks dirty. |
Just curious... does anyone have any research that shows red cars are stopped more than any other color? I also don't understand the "attention" that many of you talk about. What kind of attention?

While there have been relatively few studies conducted on this topic, the evidence that is available shows that red cars are not pulled over more often than cars of other colors. What is interesting to note here is that silver and grey cars do seem to be pulled over statistically more frequently than other car colors, according to Snopes.com." Alright then, let me ask this question: what do you guys think is the easiest to maintain/"swirl-free" color?

His findings challenged the belief about red cars being dunned with proportionally more of the speeding tickets. Red cars accounted for 14 percent of the local vehicle population and about 16 percent of the citations for speeding, which is not a significant difference. Surprisingly, his informal study did reveal certain statistically significant differences, but they had to do with other colors of vehicle.

White cars, which accounted for 25 percent of the local vehicle population, received only 19 percent of the tickets, which meant such jalopies were cited for their transgressions less often than they should have been. This raises a new hypothesis: Rather than red attracting the unwelcome attentions of the highway patrol, perhaps instead it is the case that police tend not to notice white vehicles that are breaking the law.

Grey cars were the ones that gained a greater share of the speeding tickets than they statistically should have: while they accounted for only 6 percent of cars on the road, they pulled down 10 percent of the tickets issued. On the flip side, silver cars got only 5 percent of the tickets, yet they represented 10 percent of the car population. |

I've washed, waxed and washed my chicane yellow enough and still havnt seen any. It's the reason I chose the color. Well that and I believe that any sports car needs to be bright, you want to be seen. At least I do. |
