new to z advice?
Hey everyone, i just recently had a chance to purchase a 370z gonna go with touring and sport package.
The thing is i want to her whats so great about it? What you, the owners of Z love about it? I originally wanted an Evo X but once i stepped in my friends Z, the cabin just made me fall in love. But the evoX i wanted to practicality and cheap mods. 4doors=more room also AWD for snow one thing is though i dont have kids and i hate giving rides, snow is crazy in nyc sometimes so i dont know if this would help your answer. some input from the nyc people would be good For me i love luxury, but i love performance. So this car seems to be a good catch. but is it really $$ to mod, ex simple stuff, intakes, cbe? What are your inputs? sorry if thiis has been asked b4 please link it to me if it was. Much appreciated! Last edited by Fairlady-Z; 03-02-2011 at 01:19 AM. |

I drove my Z in Boston this whole crazy winter with no problems at all. Blizzak LM-60 18R225 snow tires and VDC keeping an eye on things turned the Z into a snowmobile.

One thing's for sure, you're gonna need snow tires if you want to drive it in the winter at all. Even then I wouldn't recommend it in deep snow so if it's your only car, expect to stay home on snow days.
As for modding, the car is probably on the pricey side for mods but it's not that bad. Not that you necessarily need to mod since the car has lots of power stock anyway.

The car is drivable in the winter with snow tires, echoing what was said above. There were only a few days I didnt drive this winter in NY, once the streets are plowed all you need is a good set of tires.
As for modifications, the best bang for your buck is to replace the stock catalytic converters with something more free flowing - test pipes or high flow cats. Do some searching in the exhaust section.

I live here in central Jersey and this past winter I was only able to use the Z once a week in between snow storms. Now that the snow is gone it has become a daily driver again. If you have the use of a more snow worthy car then there is no problem.
As far as mods go, you can do as little or as much as you want. out of the box the Z is wonderfully overpowered and insanely fun to drive. A set or R2C cai went about $300 +/- and a Tanabe cbe about 1300. What ever you, do get what makes you happy |

I find the Sport/Touring package to be a great blend of performance and luxury. You get all the comfort and convenience items and the interior feels pretty nice for a sports car that has an angry side. Some people think the cabin is noisy.
Read my narrative here: Seriously. This Forum Has Ruined My Ability To Enjoy My Car A proper sports car should be rear wheel drive. I don't drive mine in the snow, so I can't comment on that aspect of ownership. There's enough room in the back for a weekend's worth of luggage.
