Default Auto dim rearview mirror

If you're thinking about installing a Gentex auto dim mirror and want the amber display try going thru Nissan. I bought a GENK45A (Series 453) and it is the blue/white display. Called the supplier and he told me Nissan has an exclusive on the amber display and only they can get it. Mine works great but not the OEM look...I drove a 2011 Maxima today and it had the amber Homelink model so I guess my guy was right.

Arrow

Lookup DIGItonium's threads as he has hacked the instrument panels to replace the color of the LEDs. Likely you can do the same for the mirror, if you're interested.

Real cute kenchan...he obviously quoted my post and edited it. I didn't swap anything...just drove a Maxima and it had the amber display.

but you could have, especially if it was a rental car. I have often thought that if I had a car that was a common rental fleet car, I would rent one every 6 months and swap wheels and tires out on a regular basis to always have fresh ones.

Is the stock home link just called green, or does it have a fancy name?

The amber, according to the supplier, is "only" available thru Nissan. The 45A w/Homelink is exactly the same other than the display color.

Will any Nissan homelink mirrow work? Or does it have to be one for the 350/370? I always see the Murano homelink mirrors on ebay and wonder if they would work.

Edit: Nevermind, the display is green.

Only thing is the Maxima's aren't very common as rentals, they have a few in the fleets as well as some have 370s and had 350s. But as premium/specialty cars they go over them moreso with a fine tooth upon return.....(Use to manage a facility and we told our people to do this with premiums and above).

Check autodimmingmirrors.com for a complete list of Gentex mirrors. I found mine on ebay too but new, the latest version, no shipping charge and had the wiring kit included. Someone posted that the 45A is faster reacting and it is quick plus it appears to be a little larger than the stock manual model that came with the the base 370. The compass is a bit cheesy, only shows N-NE-E-SE-S-SW-W-NW. I'm a pilot and would prefer the actual heading, in degrees, ut does it really matter? I bought it for the auto dimming feature.
