Considering a 370, some questions..
Goodmorning all,
I'm new here but I am posting to ask a few questions aimed at the owners of the 350/370's. Do you find the two seat ride a bit cramped? Is the trunk space sufficient enough to make a long haul with your luggage (3+ hrs)? What's your average MPG city and highway (granted, if anyone is like me, it's drastically reduced due to a lead foot)? Lastly, what's the main difference between the 350/370? Just some basic questions, and I appreciate any who answer. Currently I own an 07 Titan Crew cab with a lift and mud tires, but recently I've realized that I haven't been using the extra space (or bed) much at all. I figure for the drives I do between NC/SC I might as well be doing it in a smooth ride like a Z. Thanks |

The hatch has plenty of space for a weekend's worth of luggage. Duffel bags or other soft luggage tends to work best so you can close the hatch. But I think you'll find that the 370 has enough useable space to get you by. Mileage... I averaged 19-20 mpg during my 85% gridlock commute. On open highways I would see anywhere from 27-32 mpg depending on terrain. It's a pretty comfortable highway cruiser. Differences over the 350... engine, obviously, and the styling. Shorter wheel base by 4". Slightly wider. Lighter. Much better interior quality... fit and finish is improved and the materials used are much nicer. All around a better car. |
theres ample room. You can fit two golf bags (pretty sweet for a sports car), and mpg I get around 17 highway (lead foot), however i just finished break in period, and that should go up slightly
|
Thanks a lot guys. That's good news to hear.

Do what I did. Once the Titan is paid off buy a 370z sport roadster same color as the Titan. Keep the Titan for what it is a truck. Put the top down and enjoy the ride. OK so I may have made a few upgrades but what the heck stock suxs. As for trunk space, hmm a couple bags, I have mine taken up with the cruise night specialties: car cover, 5 gallon bucket with cleaning and detailing supplies, 2 chairs. If it gets a little cold outside just turn on the regular heat and seat heaters and enjoy. BTW NEVER drive a vert with the top down and windows up. Only tools drive with the windows up and top down LOL:ughdance:

I'll probably end up parting the truck out back to stock and head to the dealer for some trade negotiations soon. |

I think you will love a 350 OR 370 whichever you choose.
When you say "smooth" ride though, are you referring to looks or the physical ride of the car. If you want a smooth ride physically, a Z may not be the best choice, being a sports car and all. |
Thanks again guys, I'm glad to see this forum has some helpful members.
I'm pretty much set on a 370 now. Hans, I was regarding both aspects. I have driven my friends 350 and I really liked how it felt, but I will probably end up test driving a 370 this weekend. |
Good luck to you man. Enjoy the shopping experience!!

Anyways, I have a sit down with him next weekend to discuss some financing options, and whether I will be selling my truck as is with all my mods on it or converting it back to stock and trading it in. ...time to pick a color? Thanks again all:hello: |
Go for the 370Z. Charlotte needs another one...my Roadster gets lonely.
|
Plenty of room in the trunk if you pack it right. You can get 2 golf bags in there as others have shown.
Black & the 40th color are my 2 favorites. You can't go wrong with any color. Also, browse thru any noise and oil temp issues on the forum before deciding. They aren't deal breakers, just thought you should know before setting out. |
also remember that if you buy the car, and then continually read and check these forums you will need a lot of self control not to let the MOD bug bite you...

One thing I wanna mention since you are asking about trunk space. The 350z. Has the crossbar right in the middle of the trunk. So you can only pack several small items in the 350::: the 370 crossbar is located right behind the seats so your trunk is exposed. The crossmember is also removeable on the Z if you need that last lil bit of space. The 370 has a much better trunk. |
Outside of the bar, I believe the 370 trunk is smaller though
|
Again, thanks all. I have been talking with my girl about it, and she is pretty adamant on me keeping my truck. I don't know whether to part it out and trade it in, or sell privately...or keep it for that matter.
I'll let the forum know once I have made a decision, though it may be soon since I am test driving this weekend. |

Some color choosing advice: There are 3 colors (red, black cherry, blue), black and white of course, and 17 shades of gray/silver. They all have fancy names to make you think they aren't gray or silver :icon17:. The all look good IMO. That's unusual for a car design, I think. So you can't go wrong! |
370z is actually spacious. Well.....Im not a big guy or anything so I have alot of room to play around.
And as previous comments stated, you can fit 2 golf bags in the trunk but barely. Highway I get about a good 28 mpg. Not bad. And 350 is a good sports car BUT 370 is even better than 350 hands down no doubt. Its shorter, lower, wider, and has a bigger engine...which equals to much MUCH better sports car features. 370 Interior looks a lot more amusing and entertaining. Got rid of every flaws that 350 had and improved it. Overall, its bang for your buck, a great sports car that can out perform porsche boxster, cayman, some 911s, vette, mustangs, evo, etc. (on track). I have no compliant about 370......except some blind spots, but its a sports car so cant avoid blind spots =) |
I have to side with your girlfriend. Keep the Titan. Once you get rid of it you will see all the things that you need it for. I would go for the same color as your Titan. Oh and go with the vert.

The Z is pure sex! It is hot, loud, and rough!
|
Good to hear guys. I showed my girlfriend some pictures of member's platinum graphite 370's and she changed her mind fairly quick. Being its the same color as my truck, she loves it. Whether or not I sell my truck, that's a whole new question that I can only answer when I know what the dealer is willing to take for it.
There's a Nismo 370 being sold at a local dealer near my school, and I will prob be test driving it this weekend. ( Used 2009 Nissan 370Z Charleston, SC - Hudson Nissan ) Again, thank-you all for your input, it has helped tremendously |
My 2 favorite colors are the 40th anniversary gray and the new gun metallic color for the 2011.
|
Cramped compared to what? Your Titan? Other two-seater sports cars?
Personally, I don't find it cramped at all. I like the seats and the ergonomics. I'm only 5' 9", though. Trunk space? A lot less than my Mazdaspeed3 hatchwagon and definitely nowhere near the cargo carrying ability of a Titan. I can get a large roll-abord in the hatch with no problem. Garment bags and an assortment of duffels or other soft-luggage is no problem. Two cases of beer, a bucket of KFC and two Coleman folding chairs fit, too. My mileage sucks. I can't stay out of the happy place. Smooth ride, but watch that cabin noise. |
