Anyone go from camaro to z

Its like futbol and amercan football. Brute force/raw powah (america) vs finesse/precision (futbol) Amrrican muscle vs japanese precision. If I was getting plastic surgery I would rather have a scalpel

If I was getting plastic surgery I would rather have a scalpel cut my face instead of a machete

What about a microscopic machete?

I'd rather look for a 240sx or RX7.
And rebuild it.
Or I'd get a Mustang GT lowest trim.
Also, and old sti is nice.
My friend has a 04 sti stage 2.
That thing hauls *** and def. beats the Z.

Thanks for th input so far. just got back from a morning cruise ripping some gears and theres no way i could trade in my baby of two years. BUT I was exploring the idea of an SS or a V6. This car just makes me want to mod so much and being a student doesnt allow it LOL. The SS HAULS STOCK. Yea, the v6 is prob a dog and id be killing myself. But id also like a car easier for my dad to get into (personal health) and the camaro sems higher so he could get into it and we could rip some gears and enjoy ourselves

The Camaro is not much faster than our 370z's in a straight.
It's definetly a driver's race.
I've beaten all the maro's I've raced and I was stock 6speed.
Camaro only has that v8, handling is horrible and is not as agile as the Z is.
Modding wise and gas wise you are better off with the 370z.
Also, if you are thinking of a v6 look at the mustang v6 because its much faster and better than a v6 camaro.

For some reason people cant or dont want to understand the fact that a SS is not much faster then the Z considering the 90 or so HP difference and the million LB's or TQ difference. And lets not forget the Z was not made to be a stop light warrior where the Camaro was, so I'm getting a little tired hearing about how the Z is underpowered and how it should have more HP for the price. I considered a Camaro for maybe 5 minutes before buying my Z. The thing is huge!! Ugly and just cheap looking with its vake vents and louvers. Ever look at the back of one? you can see the ugly mufflers and crap, it looks like they forgot to finish it. Oh and the condensation in the reverse lights where a little bit of a turn off. Just to add a little bit more insult to injury, did you guys know the new SS Convert weights 4100 pounds!!!!!!!!

1. The Z is not almost as fast as a camaro and the power variables change drastically when modded. The Z goes to 60 somewhere in a range of 4.6 to 5.3 seconds depending on a lot of variables. There hasn't been a camaro tested that has gone slower than 4.9. The camaro quarters between 12.8 and 13.0. The Z quarters in 13.1 to 13.5 depending on cariables.
2. The camaro with a simple intake exhaust and tune that costs around $1400 total will net you quarter times in the 12.5 range and that doesn't include headers or other mods to the engine and tranny. The Z mod parts cost double for half the power and acceleration.
3. Looks are subjective. And who puts louvers and crap on cars anymore??? That's mulletastic. The Z is a superior handler but the 2 cars serve 2 different purposes.
4.4100 lb convertible... well there are only a handful of true performance convertibles. Most convertibles I consider them to be novelty cars anyway, not true sports cars in most cases. Either way you gotta give chevy credit cuz they only lost 1/10th of a second making the convert.

Whenever I rent the camaro SS I get around 20mpg. I rent the auto. And I beat it up since its a rental. Lol. The camaro has its issues and its a hard sale for me as well but 2012 is sounding good woth hp bumps and I personally think the camaro is cool but I do love the Z over the camaro. As it stands today my money would still go to the Z.

FWIW the Camaro SS is still pretty quick around the curves. Yeah it's heavy but it's got some grip and does pretty well. It was quicker than the Z by a few seconds at VIR in the Lightning Lap.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want out of a car. There's no right or wrong decision. Get what suits your needs and wants best and be happy!

I traded in a 2010 SS for my Z. The reason I traded it was because of all the problems I had. I had multiple electrical issues that the dealer could not resolve, and I actually blew both of the liquid motor mounts on two separate occasions. The car is HUGE. It's very difficult to park because you can't see out of it to place yourself as well. As for the motor, the LS3 was awesome and I do miss that. The handling of the car was decent but nowhere near that of the Z. As for straight line, I don't feel a big difference. I had intake mufflers and a tune on my camaro and the best I could get out of it was a 12.9. My Z has intake and exhaust and it ran a 13.4 so after it gets a tune and test pipes it will be pretty damn close. All in all, I do miss the camaro but Im very happy with my Z. Oh and the gas mileage is worlds better in the Z.

Did you have wheel weights on your calipers, too?
