I've seen the wife use the one for her car as a means of locating the car in very large parking lots and the like.

I would qualify that as legitimate, although you could also click the lock button to get a honk. But I was hoping to hear if anyone has used it to actually deter a thief.

On the key fob, you have Lock, Unlock, and Panic. It's the alarm button.
