Call your credit card company for the 100% guaranteed truth from them and a faster reply than waiting for us to chime in with our own experiences (which are all different)

if you didn't sign anything, and its on CC, you can get your money back easily. Deposits on cars are typically refundable. If you have done it on CC it'll be real easy to get your money back. be polite, ask them for your deposit back so things dont get ugly for them, no reason for that. If they special ordered a car and all that for you, then yea it would be a bit scummy if you bailed, but it doesn't sound like thats what happened based on what you are saying.

I would not buy what dealer B told you. They just throw a number too good for you to pass up just because they want to steal you from dealer A, its by no means they're going to give you a good deal.
Also a deposit is just what it is, a deposit. when they have the car ready, and you come in to check it out, just say you dont like the color, not what it looks like in the brochure, then walk away. They will have to refund your deposit. Or test drive and say you dont like it, it lacks power and walk away. I put a $500 deposit on a car before. a week later i changed my mind and told them i no longer wanted the car so they refunded. Last edited by zmyride; 02-23-2011 at 05:42 PM. |

They offered 1700 better deal than dealer A.
1k lower on car price and gave me 700 more on my trade in. I paid 0 fees. (35000-9700)*1.07(Indiana sales tax) dealer B --> price i paid (36000-9000)*1.07 = dealer A --> original price but changed to match dealer B I did deal with B because dealer B was already 2hr drive and dealer A was another 2 hr from dealer B. So for same price its better for me to save 5hr of my day( 2hr drive up 1hr for all the paper and buying the car amd another 2hr drive down). I bought 40th z with splash + illu plates. Compare to other ppl who got there 40th i paid a bit more but pple who got lower price then i did, they financed so(i fully paid), so in the end i think its about same. |

When I read the thread title, I thought the OP was looking for help with coming up with the deposit. I was relieved to discover that was not the case
